I knocked part of my front four teeth which would be a better option crowns or veneers

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’ve had a bit of an accident today and knocked part of my front four teeth out (about half of each). I was thinking of having veneers anyway to correct them as they were slightly crooked but am now wondering whether these can be fitted over these broken teeth. Would crowns be better? I was under the impression that veneers just looked better. Thanks.

My crown has loosen and small infection has appeared should i take the tooth out or have apicectomy

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
I have a crown in upper tooth #2 which has been there for over 15 years. I have a minor infection about 5 years a go when my crown came a little loose. It was treated with antibiotics and all has been well, until now. The crown has come loose again and a small infection has appeared in the gum above. It does not cause any pain, but I went to the Dentist immediately. The X-Ray showed that some of the root canal had escaped from the tip of the root and was causing the infection. I have therefore been given two options: a) take the tooth out, b) have an apicectomy. Not a great choice, but I am in a real dilemma. I don’t like the sound of an apicectomy but I don’t really want the root removed because I would have to have a bridging crowb of some sort. Is having a apicectomy really worth it? Can it cause more harm than good? If I have a bridge, I believe its life span is 10-15 years. Is it easily removed and replaced? Please help me decide.

im living in korea and my top teeth has moved forward due to my wisdom tooth can you advise

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i am living in korea and visited the dentist here in order to ask about my tooth, its one of my top lateral teeth that has moved forward and towards my front teeth. The dentist said it was due to my wisdom teeth coming in, although i have all my wisdom teeth now. ihe advised me that i could either get a crwon put on that one tooth to make it straight or get my wisdom teeth out!! would a crown look obvious that it was fake? or would my tooth maybe straighten back to where it was if my wisdom tooth was taken out? im not sure which to go for and the language barrier is not helping as we discuss it all through a translator who ddoes not know much english either!!! thank you

Should crowns for my upper front four teeth be done only privately

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Q.
I am in need of crowns fitting to my upper front four teeth and my dentist has quoted me 1400 pounds for the job, which as a student is a terrifying prospect. He said it will have to be done privatley but didn’t explain why. Is my dentist just trying to make money out of me or is there a limit to how much treatment you are allowed through the NHS?

Do you know what i can do about the position of my crown as Im really unhappy

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have recently had a crown and a veneer on my two front teeth, the crown came loose after a week and so when i went back my dentist put a harder cement in my gum, hoever when she has put the crown back in it has not been positioned correct and is no further forward than my other teeth. I have been back to the dentist and she has told me if they take the crown out and put it back in there is the chance the root could crack or the crown could crack. Do you know what i can do as i am really unhappy with the out come? Thanks

my crown has fractured and it now feels like waffer thin what i need to know

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009
Q.
I had a porcelain crown fitted in October 08. The crown fractured at the back in April. The dentist who fitted the crown said it was not too bad and ground it smooth. Since then the crown has fractured again. It now feels waffer thin and will snap at any time. What I need to know is, am I entitled to this crown being replaced free of charge. It is a lot of money to pay and 6 month is not a long time considering they should last 10 years.
