Can I have composite fillings placed instead of dental veneers?

Friday, May 21st, 2010
Q.
I have recently chipped my tooth in a fall, the front top right tooth. I have a very expensive quote for 2 front veneers approx 3K! Is this appropriate as it doesnt seems that bad, wouldn’t composite suffice? The reason for the front 2 veneers was the teeth were overlapping before, the overlapped tooth is brokent the other looks fine.. wouldnt composite suffice? Thanks,

Could my mouth be so sensitive because I had so many fillings at once?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
Q.
On February 27, 2010 I went to my dentist and have 5 composite fillings done on my right side three on top two on the bottom. He said I had one that was deeper than he thought and he put some lime stuff to reduce sensitivity, and on and off I have had sensitivity to mostly cold. Here in the past couple of days I have needed advil to help with the pain. He said I was no where near needing any root canals (as those are a huge fear for me, Im scared of mouth pain) I have to take valium to get fillings done. When he did the other side I had the same thing, but I only had three fillings, after time passed, it went away. Could this be because I had so many fillings done at once, or could there be something else causing this, Im the biggest chicken there is when it comes to the dentist. What should I do? Please help, Im freaking out here. Mary Wells,

Is there any treatment for a fractured veneer?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had a veneer on my front tooth, and it fractured, and instead of having a new one replaced, my dentist put composite filling on my tooth, if i wanted the filling removed can it be done so that i can just have my natural tooth? Laura,

Is composite filling cause of sore gums?

Monday, January 18th, 2010
Q.
5 months ago I had a small gap between by two front teeth closed with white filling (composite bonding). It looks great, feels fine, and is easy to clean and maintain so i am very happy with it. However, over the last few months, my gum surrounding one of the teeth and the gum in the centre of the teeth has become red and puffy and sore looking. I am dedicated to keeping my teeth and gums healthy and no other teeth have this problem, my other gums are fine. I am off to see a hygeniest tomorrow, but it this a common complaint with this type of cosmetic procedure? i have never seen gum problems on the list of cons for composite bonding. Any idea what could be cuasing the redness and puffiness, bearing in mind i floss and brush my teeth 3 times a day and use mouthash as well. Thank you.,

Is there something that can be put over the top of my grey coloured filling?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
Q.
I just received fillings in my teeth and my dentist said the white fillings are not strong enough because they are in my back teeth, but i cannot stand the way the grey looks on my teeth. Is there something that dentists can put over the top to kind of hide the grey color?

What ball park figure would be acceptable for having implant?

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
I am 63, had five front teeth ( 4 incisors and one cuspid) removed between the age of 17 and 21. I have all my other teeth intact. I have never got used to a partial, and wondered if there was anything else I could try at my age and so long after removal. ie implants of some sort. I know that if there is not enough bone left it can theoretically be grafted from elsewhere, but realistically, do you think this is possible and what sort of ball park figure would I be looking at if it were?
