Underneath the crown I found huge black filling

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q.
Hi I’ve just had a a crown done and very disappointed as from the underneath it looks like two huge black fillings. Is there anything that can be done to disguise this such as a veneer? Many Thanks for your time.

There are black spots on my teeth should I be concerned?

Monday, November 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi, It was a few years ago i noticed black dots on my teeth, i’ve since been to the dentist every 6 months apart from in the last year. She has always said there is nothing to worry about, but now i havent been to see the dentist in a while i have noticed they are gradually getting larger and on one of my teeth there is a second smaller black dot(the black dots are situated on the back two teeth on the bottom on either side, 4 in total)I have a phobia of any dental surgery. I had 2 teeth removed when i was 8/9yo under gas because of it and have was wondering is this decay also if it is are there any treatment which i would be put tosleep for the procedure?

Pain post tooth filling

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
Q.
I’ve just had a filling – there was decay under an existing filling (spotted via X-Ray) and some of the original filling had to be removed to remove the decay underneath and then place new filling on top. It has been 18 hours since the filling and I am still very sore. Is this normal? It’s 4am in the morning and I cannot sleep because of the pain/soreness. I could not brush over the recently filled area before going to bed either as it felt very sore/sensitive. I have had fillings before and cannot remember the pain post-filling lasting this long. Thank you

Can I have silver fillings to be replaced with composite materials in molar tooth?

Monday, November 2nd, 2009
Q.
I thought of going to have my silver fillings to be replaced with composite materials in one of my molar tooths. But some of the current silver fillings stick to my gums, how does the dentist going to remove it? Will it cause my gums to bleed during the drilling? I am concern that the harmful silver particles will get into my gums.

My wife suffering with lot of pain after filling Is this normal?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Q.
Dr Moore, My wife attended the dentist last month for a routine check-up. The dentist told her that she needed a filling and made another appointment for her to attend for this. later on, after having the filling done, she was havig a lot of pain. She went back to the dentist and he told her that he would have to remove the nerve from this tooth. My wife was still having a lot of pain. within the last week, her mouth & face has swollen causing her extreme pain. She went back to the dentist again and he removed another nerve from a tooth at the front of her mouth. I am very concerned that my wife has been suffering with pain for several weeks now as a result of attending the dentist for a routine check-up. Is this normal?

My teeth are placed random can I ve veneers and fillings?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Solanki, I have had a very hard emotional time over my bent teeth, I am finally approaching this issue to finally be able to smile normally! I have very bent teeth, I have all my teeth but they are slightly discoloured due to lack of brushing and I used to smoke for 7 years. I am very interested in having Veneers to make over my smile. As the most bent teeth are my two upper front, (they bend backwards about 90 degree’s out) are they too bent to have veneers? I looking for 8 veneers and fillings if needed. I am aware of the costs but am worried it will take a lot more than veneers to fix my nightmare teeth. I think it steams from my dentist at age 12 saying my teeth are placed like rubbish in a bin, random and not pleasent to look at. (yeah I know :-() Can you help me? Thank you

How long will my thin teeth bonding last

Saturday, October 17th, 2009
Q.
My dentist just applied bonding to the back of my front teeth. They feel thinner and now I am worried they will break easily. Also, I worry as to how long the bonding will last. If the bonding wears off, what do you do then. I dont want caps. I dont know why he chose to do this procedure. My teeth are pretty and white. Maybe because I am 59 yrs old and perhaps he thought this would help preserve them. Is this a mistake of my life? Am I headed toward more espensive procedures?

Is its necessary to hv my fillings redone?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I suffered from bulimia when I was 18 & 19, I’m now 36 and my 2 front teeth have several fillings caused by the bulimia. I’m happy with them at the moment, although the fillings did fall off and had to have them redone but my dentist has said that I should have crowns and that Lava crowns would be the best solution. He has said that I should have them on the front top 4 teeth. Is there a problem with me leaving it as I’m happy with the fillings and think that Lava means that I will have to have a lot of my real tooth filed down and think what is the point if it looks ok and isn’t really causing me too many problems.

Are lumineers as good as porcelain veneers?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I’m e-mailing from N. Ireland. After reading extensively regarding Veneers / Lumineers ( I have 2 crowns at the side of my front teeth). Firstly, before I start searching for a cosmetic dentist, what qualifications do I need to look out for ? Also, are Lumineers as good as a porcelain veneer and do they last as long. Also, If I need root treatment, fillings etc etc after having my lumineers/veneers fitted – can I go to my regular dentist to have this done – OR do I need to see a cosmetic dentist all the time thereafter ? Thank you so much
