I Have Small Gaps Between My Front Four Teeth. Which Low Risk Treatment Can I Have To Fix This?

May 9th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I have small gaps in my four front teeth, and my front two teeth have slightly more space than the other adjacent teeth. The two front teeth look bigger than the others when I smile. So what is the best way to fill all the gaps and improve, so I can have a beautiful smile without any risk or side effects. There are no cavities or pains in my teeth. I am a non-smoker and a non-drinker and a vegeterian. However, I take 3-4 cups of tea daily. So could you please advise me on what I could do? Thank you for your time.

Do You Know How I Can Get In Touch With Any Dentists Who Offer A Payment Plan?

May 9th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I’ve been trying to get help for a long time but I don’t know how to go about it. I had a partial top denture fitted some years ago now all the remaining top teeth have decayed and I seriously need help. Someone told me that there are dentists who would do the work required on a payment plan? I don’t know of any? The damage done to my teeth was mainly caused by an ill fitted denture and the dentist that did the work is no longer there. Just getting up each day is so depressing. Every time I look at my teeth I just want to lock myself away. I would appreciate any advice or help you could give me. Thank you.

May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have a bit of a gap between my front teeth which is 1 cm long. My two teeth are not straight and they stick out. This is due to me sucking my thumb since childhood. I feel like my gap is getting bigger and it sometimes hurts. I have been to several dentist within NHS however they refuse to give me braces for free. What treatment would you advise for me? I am interested in the 6 month smile treatment. How would I be able to afford this? Thank you, I look forward to your reply.

My Daughter Is Allergic To The Metal In Fixed Braces. Is There Any Other Brace Type She Can Wear?

May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. My daughter has significant gap between her front upper and lower teeth. She has had a separator and started the process of braces only to discover she is allergic to the metal. Our orthodontist has said that there are no options other than plastic, that some parts have to be metal. Do you have any any suggestions please, she wants her to take prednisone to suppress her reaction and I am worried about that as an option? She has said some parts can be ceramic but the back parts that anchor the braces have to be made of metal. Thank you for your time.

I’m Having Second Thoughts About Invisalign. Can I Get My Deposit Back Even After The Moulds Have Been Made?

May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I hope you can help me. I recently went to the dentist to have Invisalign.

I had moulds made of my teeth, and I am waiting for the Clincheck from America to decide if I am happy to go ahead with the process.

I am having second thoughts about the braces. However I have paid a 500 pound deposit that I was told was taken for the moulds, X-ray, etc. I am wondering if I changed my mind could I get the deposit back or have I forfeited it due to having the moulds made? Thank you for helping me with this matter.

I Have Extreme Dental Phobia And My Teeth Are In A Pitiful State. Do You Think I Will Need To Undergo Surgery?

May 8th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I am the mother of 4 boys and I am 47 years old. I have extreme dental phobia. I haven’t been to a dentist for more than 15 years! Now my mouth is really in a pitiful condition. I am planning to visit a dentist now as I have lost my smile and being a teaching assistant I feel that it is an important tool to communicate with children.
I have a question: Most of my teeth are broken up to the gum-line. After 4/5 years my gum is now closed and the root I assume must be inside. I have never had any infection/ pain or abscess. Do you think I will need a surgical extraction? I wish I could get my smile back as I am willing to extract all of my teeth and get dentures.
Thank you for your precious time.

I Have Multiple Diastema And I Don’t Like The Spaces In Between My Teeth. Is There Any Other Treatment Than Braces To Fix This?

May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me. I have a problem with my teeth that they have some protrusion and multiple diastema. I am not annoyed about the protrusion but I don’t like the spaces so I had them treated with composite veneers 7 years ago and now my composite veneers have turned yellow. I know I need orthodontic treatment but I am anxious about all braces. What are my other alternatives? I have a video for the case if I can send it? I am 28 years old. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hello Dr Moore. My Teeth Are Ridiculously Sensitive. Which Dental Treatment Can Help Me Instead Of Just Using Toothpastes?

May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Moore. My teeth are ridiculously sensitive, I have tried lots of different toothpastes to try and reduce their sensitivity but nothing will offer me relief. It’s getting very frustrating as it’s everything that is slightly cold or hot causes me pain and toothache. I was basically wondering if there was any dental treatment that could help my teeth instead of just using toothpastes and such? Any advice you can offer would be very much appreciated. I look forward to reading your response, Thank you in advance.

I Fractured My Teeth When I Was Young And Now The Cracks Are Opening. Could You Offer Me Advice On How To Sort Them Out?

May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. When I was a child I was involved in an accident and got run over by a lorry as I hit the ground I landed on my chin braking my jaw both sides and cracking a lot of my teeth. As I was only young and it was hair-line fractures through my teeth I was told there was nothing they could do. But now as an adult and after losing a few teeth all the cracks are opening and it’s only going to get worse. I was a heavy smoker and coffee drinker but I have given them up. Please could you offer some advice as to how I go about sorting them out.

I Am Unhappy With My Four Front Teeth. Should I Go For Invisalign Or Veneers?

May 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I am unhappy about my front upper 4 teeth and for many years I have felt insecure about myself. I wanted to get veneers done simply because they seem cheaper and correction allows for quicker results. However a dentist has advised me to go for Invisalign. He said as my teeth were in good condition and not as bad as I think it would be better as I am only upset with their positioning. The dentist said it would take 6 months to complete the course and cost around £1400. Please can you advise if I have received good advice? How would I know if I am in good hands and paying the right price? Many thanks (36 years old).
