Hi Dr Hughes, I have waited almost 2 years to get dentures made, after four top sets being made they still look disgusting and really bad. I was sent to a dental school at my local hospital and I am getting another top set made, but it already looks like the teeth are too large and the plate is the thickest I’ve ever seen. Do you know of anyone that will help me just get teeth that make me want to smile again? I would get implants if they were available for me, but unfortunately I am out of work. I have heard of soft dentures that look real and would settle for them. Thanks.
I Have Gone Almost 2 Years Waiting For Dentures To Get Made. How Can I Get Soft Dentures?
July 7th, 2014I Don’t Like My Gold Teeth. Could I Have Them Removed And Get My Teeth Whitened?
July 7th, 2014Hello Dr Moore. I hope you can help me out. I have had gold teeth for the last 14 years and now I’m sick of them. It’s really affecting my confidence and has ruined my smile. Do you know if it’s possible to have them removed and have my teeth whitened after this? Are there any other complications which can arise out of this? Could you tell me how much this will set me back as I don’t have loads of money? A quick reply is all I need. Thank you in advance for your reply.
The Gap In My Smile Is Starting To Mess With My Confidence. Would Cosmetic Bonding Be Available Through The NHS As I’m Under 18?
July 4th, 2014Hello, I’m under 18 years old and have a gap between my teeth and Its really starting to mess with confidence. I’ve had it since I lost my baby teeth, it’s not very big, only about a quarter of a centimetre but to me it’s a lot. My dentist tells me I don’t need braces but the two teeth next to my front top teeth aren’t straight. But anyway I’m not bothered about those it’s just my gap. I have very thin teeth as it is so I was wondering if tooth bonding would be free on the NHS as I’m 14?
I’m Missing Two Teeth In My Lower Jaw As My Permanent Teeth Didn’t Come Through. How Can I Close This Gap?
July 4th, 2014Hello Andrew. I’m missing 2 teeth in my lower jaw at the front but the gap I have can take only one implant. If I place one tooth above the implant it leads to gap between the teeth. What can I do to reduce the gap? For me no permanent teeth have grown, after the milk teeth came through I didn’t get my permanent teeth. I got my treatment in dental college. They said I could have only one single tooth implant otherwise you go for bridge technique. I look forward to hearing your reply.
I Have Spaces Between My Front Teeth. As A Student I’d Like To Know The Ideal Treatment For Fixing This?
July 4th, 2014Hi Dr Hughes,
I have a question about my teeth. Basically my bottom teeth are fine but my upper teeth have spaces (gaps) between most of the front teeth. I’m really insecure about it and I want to do the 6 months smile programme. But I want to know how much the price will be for that and what is the best treatment I could have?
I’m a university student right now as well therefore I would be able only to spend maximum £1900 for my teeth. Therefore I wanna know the best treatment thats available for me please get my back to me if you can.
Thank you.
My Teeth Are Pointy. Is There Any Way I Can Get Them Reshaped Using Crowns?
July 4th, 2014Hello there Dr Moore. I hope you can help me out. I have quite pointy teeth (canines) and I sometimes I hurt myself when I accidentally bite the inside of my cheek. I’ve been researching a few treatments on-line but I’d like more information on treatments which could help me. Do you know if there any way pointy teeth can be crowned or re-shaped? How much would this cost and which treatment would be least invasive? Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your reply.
The Gap Between My Veneers Is Getting Bigger And I Sometimes Get A Horrible Smell. Is This Something I Need To Worry About?
July 3rd, 2014Hello,
I had 6 porcelain veneers placed on to my top 6 middle teeth in 2008. I had this done as I had a small gap which I wanted to close.
Fast forward to 2014 and my gap is bigger than it ever was. And my biggest problem is I am worried that the veneers are causing me to have bad breath. I can sometimes get a horrible smell coming from the top of the veneers near my gums.
I floss and brush my teeth twice a day and use mouthwash.
My experience of having these veneers fixed was horrendous and has left me with an extreme fear of dentists.
I don’t know what to do about this. I do not have the finances to have this procedure done again. Please can you help?
I Grind My Teeth And Have Had Some Sensitivity. Do You Know What Treatment I Could Have To Fix This?
July 3rd, 2014Hello Dr Moore. I recently got a new crown (second last back tooth lower on the right) it cost me quite a bit and it is super sensitive to hot/cold. I’m 56 years old and I have been prepared for another crown. I do grind my teeth and I have had sensitivity problems for quite a while with various teeth and some near the new crowns. I’ve been to a dental hospital but they dropped me as they said I would find cheaper treatment elsewhere. Do you know what I could do to find this cheaper treatment? Thank you for taking the time to listen to my problem.
I Have Had A Maryland Bridge For 8 Years But The Bond Keeps Failing Now. What Should I Do?
July 3rd, 2014Hi Dr Hughes. I have had my Maryland bridge in for about 8 years. The bond tends to fail usually after 2 to 3 years but I always have it refitted. It normally takes about 15 to 20 minutes to refit. This would include removal of any cement from the adjacent teeth and the Maryland bridge wings. It failed again 3 weeks ago and was refitted in just 5 minutes, it failed after 5 days, refitted again and now failed after 3 days. Again only 5 minutes was spent in the chair. Can you tell me what prep is usual in refitting the Maryland? Thank you for your time.
My New Dentist Said I Needed New Veneers On Four Front Teeth. I’m Currently Exempt From Charges. Will This Be Done For Free?
July 3rd, 2014 Hello Dr Moore. I saw my new dentist today who said I needed veneers on my four front teeth. I’m currently exempt from charges. Will this treatment be done for free?
I didn’t ask her as she seemed to be saying it while knowing I was exempt.
She was very helpful and I’m sure she would have mentioned if I had to pay. I’m so glad I have found this surgery as my last dentist really did not seem to care and did very bad work on my teeth. Thank you for your reply.
