I Need A Dental Implant Which I Would Like To Be Gold Or Platinum. Do You Know Roughly How Much This Would Cost?

August 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I am looking to have some sort of cosmetic dental implant or something on my lower left teeth. It is the first big tooth from the front. I would probably like gold or maybe a platinum tooth depending on the cost. So if you could quote me for these it would be appreciated? Also if it’s possible for a diamond to be added again depending on cost I am not sure which to have done. Maybe also I would have the lot cleaned so they look white again. Any information would be great. Thank you for your time.

My 3 Unit Bridge Has Been Poorly Fitted And Now My Gum Is Inflamed. How Should I Proceed?

August 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I had 3 unit front teeth dental bridge done 4 years ago. I noticed that the gum is red above the abutment teeth. I am not sure when this started. My dentist says my bridge was poorly fitted hence the inflammation. He fitted a temporary bridge and said the inflammation would disappear but two weeks later it hasn’t. I also noticed that the crowns go deep into the gum line. I am afraid of receding gums due to this bridge. How should I proceed? Should I get a denture? Or should I opt for an implant? What should I do? Thanks.

My 14 Year Old Daughter Needs Braces But Her Orthodontist Said This Wouldn’t Be Covered By The NHS. Should I Keep Trying?

August 13th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel. My 14 year old daughter has gaps between her top front teeth. Her dentist suggested braces for her and referred her to an orthodontist. The orthodontist agreed that a brace would be beneficial however said that it wouldn’t be covered on the national health! We can’t afford the £2000 quoted but are now concerned as one of her teeth appears to be twisting. Is it worth going back and asking again whether it will now be covered on the national health? Thank you.

I Can’t Afford To Get My Veneers. Do You Know If I Could Get A Dental Student To Do This For Me?

August 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I need 8 veneers but cannot afford the 3000 pounds it costs to get them. Do you know where can I get help and whether a student dentist could do them? My top 8 teeth are rotting away, this is due to not taking care of them and it’s also because my family have all had weak teeth. I have lost most of my confidence due to this. I am now 43 years old and I know I would find it much easier to talk to women as when I smile I do it with my mouth shut. Thank you for your time in advance.

I Have Front Tooth Gap. Is There An Option To Get Two Veneers And Get The Rest Whitened Or Would That Look Weird?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hey Mark. I have a gap between my two front teeth on the top set of my jaw, I have already had braces when I was younger but they didn’t seem to work. I was wondering what options I have to close this gap? E.g. Veneers or bonding? Is there an option just to get two veneers put in (the two front teeth) and get the rest whitened or will that look weird? Also what would be the most effective treatment? Could you please advise me on prices too?

Thank you.

I Have A Gap Between My Teeth And I’m Embarrassed Of My Teeth. How Can I Get Braces Treatment?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I would like your help. I have a gap between my two teeth and I’m really embarrassed of my teeth, but when I asked my old dentist they said I can’t have braces because it’s a cosmetic thing. So I really want to ask my new dentist. Do you thing they will say yes if I tell her I’m embarrassed to smile? I’m scared they will say no. I don’t know what to tell her? I’m so embarrassed of myself when I smile. I just want to smile and never stop but now I just can’t because of my gap. Thank you.

My Crown Keeps Falling Out And Would Need A Denture If It Falls Out Again. How Much Would It Cost To Have Implants For 3/4 Teeth?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi there. I have just been to my dentist and had one of my crowns re-fixed yet again, probably for the sixth time. I was told that the dentist that originally fixed the crown, didn’t check that the post was long enough and that’s why it falls out on occasions. Next to the crown is a bridge that is fixed to a now cracked tooth so it wobbles, the bridge has wobbled for about 10 years only coming out once. I asked the dentist this morning what it if comes out again, they said that they won’t cement it in again and I would have to have a denture, which fills me full of dread. I am a pensioner and don’t have a large income and wondered if there would be an alternative on the NHS, or how much would it cost to have implants for 3/4 teeth? My own teeth are shrinking so next to the crown it’s considerably smaller.

I Had A Milk Tooth Pulled Recently And A Small White Spot Has Appeared Within The Gum. Could This Be An Abscess?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I had a milk tooth pulled as it was loose and on the same day had a permanent bridge fitted (adhesive metal wing). It’s two days after the procedure and I have started to experience a pain whenever there is pressure, moreover, a small white painless spot has appeared within the gum above the artificial tooth. The pain is not that bad, more annoying. Do you think this could be bruising post insertion and extraction, or could it be the start of an abscess? It is now four days post procedure and I’d like some advice. Thank you for your time.

My Dentist Thinks I Should Replace My Veneers. What Would You Recommend?

August 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi,

I had 6 porcelain veneers fitted to my top front 6 teeth 25 years ago. Within the last 12 months 2 have chipped which I had replaced during my last 2 months in the RAF (free dental treatment) but they are not even close to the shade of my other 4. Since leaving the RAF I have joined my local dentist and recently another veneer has pinged off. I saw my dentist and he recommended that I have all 6 replaced in order to colour match and have all my teeth whitened and fillings replaced with white ones. What would you recommend? (I do fully expect my remaining original veneers to start pinging off now as they’ve lasted way beyond what it was advised).

I Haven’t Been To A Dentist For Two Years As I Have Dental Phobia. How Much Would It Cost To Have My Fillings Replaced?

August 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I’ve not been to the dentist for about 2 years I’ve got dental phobia and the whole experience just scares me. I’ve got very weak teeth and 2 of my bottom back teeth have broken I also have a lot of fillings. I really want them sorting out as I realise how important my teeth are. What sort of piece would I be looking at to have my fillings replaced probably about 6 of them and also the bottom 2 teeth that have broken? I’m with an NHS dentist at the moment? Thanks.
