I Have A Gap Between My Teeth And I’m Embarrassed Of My Teeth. How Can I Get Braces Treatment?

Q.
Hello Dr Patel, I would like your help. I have a gap between my two teeth and I’m really embarrassed of my teeth, but when I asked my old dentist they said I can’t have braces because it’s a cosmetic thing. So I really want to ask my new dentist. Do you thing they will say yes if I tell her I’m embarrassed to smile? I’m scared they will say no. I don’t know what to tell her? I’m so embarrassed of myself when I smile. I just want to smile and never stop but now I just can’t because of my gap. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. You should ask it’s a very common treatment. You will most probably have to pay for this treatment unless you are under 16. A consultation with an experienced orthodontist will tell you how much your treatment will be as each dental case is unique. You could also ask your dentist to refer you to a dental hospital. Most clinics will also provide payment options to spread the cost of treatment. I hope this helps. Best of luck, Dr Riten Patel.
