Hi Dr Patel, I hope you can help my granddaughter. What can I give to my granddaughter for the pain caused by the tightening of the brace every 4 weeks she’s in agony for 3 days after it’s done, her mouth is all swollen and she says she can’t go on with having it. She’s 15 years old. They have put blue blocks on the back teeth this time which is making it more sore. Please give us advice. She has been eating ice poles which seem to soothe the pain but this is only temporary relief. She is saying she has had enough. I hope you can help. Thank you for taking the time to listen to us.

What Can I Give To My Granddaughter When She Gets Her Braces Tightened?
Thursday, April 3rd, 2014Would Lingual Brace Treatment Straighten My Rotated Canine?
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 Hi Mark. I have just had a consultation for Invisalign but after finding out that it is not predictable for rotated canines I am now thinking about my other options.
Would lingual braces work for this? It is just my top right canine and so it would be nice to just have a brace on the top row, but not sure this is possible.
As yet I am yet to find anything that will sort out just this canine in a localised and more or less invisible way. Any information on this would be great. Thanks.
I Don’t Want The Gap Left By An Impacted Tooth Any More. What Are My Options?
Tuesday, April 1st, 2014Hi Dr Hughes. I would like some information and advice to help me out. I have a tooth, which, when I was younger that grew across the roof of my mouth. This was removed at a young age, when I was thirteen years old. Since then, the tooth next to my front two has spread into the gap. I would like to get this changed so it looks like 2 teeth. What are my options? I don’t want to have a gap any more. The tooth removed was the 2nd one after my front two and the one that’s next to my front 2 (top) has now in the middle of the gap showing a gap either side. Thank you in advance for your help, I look forward to hearing from you.
I Would Like To Have Inman Aligner Treatment But I’m Allergic To Nickel. Can I Have Them Without Nickel?
Tuesday, April 1st, 2014Dear Dr Riten Patel,
I would like to straighten my front four lower teeth. Having researched all of the various options I have decided that I am most interested in the Inman Aligners as they offer quick results, are reasonably priced and are removable.
However, could you please tell me if the metal used is nickel, as I am allergic to it? If so, can they be made without nickel and would that add to the cost of the treatment?
What are my options please?
Many thanks in advance for your answer. I look forward to hearing your reply.
I Would Like To Pay For Treatment On A Monthly Basis. Is This Possible?
Friday, March 28th, 2014Hello Dr Patel. I am 25 years old and I have really bad crooked teeth an I am so desperate to have them done. I did have the chance when I was 16 to have them done but I was so scared and young it didn’t matter to me back then. I am older now and have realised what a bad mistake I made. I am really cautious and I never smile, it makes me feel down at times. I don’t have the cost to pay for it all at once, but I would be able to pay monthly. I would appreciate it if you could get back to me about paying monthly for my teeth to be done. Thank you.
I Have Porcelain Crowns And Veneers. I Would Like To Know If It’s Possible To Have Lingual Braces?
Friday, March 28th, 2014 Hi Mark, I would like to know if it possible for me to have lingual braces? I have porcelain crowns with metal posts on my two front teeth and veneers on the two teeth either side.
I have a small upper arch and originally my upper front teeth were overlapped before they were replaced with crowns and posts. I have always wanted to have my teeth straightened but was put off by a dentist who did not want to offer me braces. I have since read on the internet that it is possible to have lingual braces on crowned teeth. I would like some advice on this if it’s possible. Thank you for your time.
My Teeth Have Relapsed After Braces Treatment. I’m Scared They Will Relapse Again Due To My Tongue Thrusting. What Can I Do?
Friday, March 28th, 2014 Hi Dr Patel,
I had a bad thumb sucking habit until I was 15. I am 22 now.
I had braces when I was 16 to correct my overbite but my gap never completely closed. My teeth relapsed a bit but are still not as bad as they were before the treatment.
However I am still not happy with my teeth and wanted braces again to pull my teeth down. I am scared that they will relapse due to my tongue thrusting. I normally swallow by pushing tongue forward behind my front to teeth or even touching my lower lip.
I have tried to find places that correct this or provide treatment but have been unsuccessful. I am based in the Midlands and would really appreciate help and guidance.
Thanks, I hope to hear from you in the near future.
I’m 15 And I Was Wondering If The NHS Would Provide Me With Lingual Braces Or Not?
Wednesday, March 26th, 2014Hi Dr Patel. My question is: how much do lingual braces cost? Does NHS provide it? I’m 15 years old. I have 2 of my front teeth are overlapping like they should be in the front but they are on the back and that is the only problem that I have. How long should I wear the normal braces or the lingual dental braces? I think that lingual braces are the only braces that can help me. I don’t really want the normal braces and I was wondering if there was any discount because of my age? Thank you.
I’ve Been Told That My Teeth May Need To Be Contoured After Invisalign Treatment. Is This Correct?
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014Hello,
I am a 50 year old female in good health and with good teeth.
I am considering having the Invisalign treatment to straighten my front teeth, which are not straight and overlap slightly.
A relative who has recently had this treatment has advised me that after my teeth are straightened they will be different lengths and may need contouring?
What does this mean and is this correct?
Thank you!
I Need Braces, But I Don’t Want My Teeth Extracted. Is There Any Other Treatment That Could Help Me?
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014Hi Andrew. I am a college student, I’m 19 years old and I don’t actually have extremely bad teeth but the major problem is that my upper jaw is a bit out. I even asked for braces from the dentist but he said that braces are possible only after 5 extractions, but I don’t wish to extract my teeth. I tend to hesitate when I smile. My teeth aren’t very long. They are white, short and clustered but not too much overcrowding. Could you please suggest something to help me? Thanks.
