Can you tell me where I can receive the new Lanap treatment?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Where is London can I get Lanap treatment – have severe peridontal disease – 50% bone erosion in places. Just had xrays completed. Front tooth has limited bone left and dentist talking about stabalisation asap. Always had a few pockets that were cleaned on a regular basis – but I did lapse for the last 18 months – but no real symptoms over that period – continued brushing and flossing. Literally 5 days ago I became very aware that my front tooth was very sensitive and shaky hence visit to dentist. In some places she noticed the pocket was a measurement of 9 – seems have heriditary issues as opposed to very bad oral health. I obviously want to address this and she has advised a course of deep cleaning across all quadrants etc – but this lanap treatment seems like a route that may be very beneficial to me – however I cannot find a dentist in London that actually provides it – Can you help?

My gums are inflamed, does my tooth need to be extracted?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Dear Andrew, I have advanced periodontitis with furcation at the site of my second molar. At the moment it looks like a small dark dot at the gum line. ‘Tunneling’ has been mentioned to me as a possible type of treatment to aid with cleaning at this site. It was suggested to try cleaning with a very small tepe and for some reason (although I am always very careful) it seems to have internally inflamed the whole lower side which is painful. My question is, and I am wondering, if it may be best to have it extracted or what the general, approximate outcome is for a tooth that is tunneled to help with home cleaning. A difficult question I know. Thank you for reading and for your time.

My gums have receded by about 10mm, how can I repair them?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello
My question is one mainly involving my gums. They have receeded from their original position upon my teeth by about 10mm and i would like to ask if there are any procedures available that could repair them? This problem affects my confidence when smiling, especially if it is for a photo.
I also would like gaps that i have fixed so that i would eventually have a smile to be proud of,but, after already spending in excess of £350 i am of course looking for,as im sure you hear regularly, the cheapest procedure possible. Thank you for your time though, and i hope to hear from you soon.

Would the most cost effective option for me be a lower denture?

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012
Q.

Hi, I am in need of some direction. First off, I do not have insurance and have maxed out my care credit card. I had my lower left second premolar and first and second molars removed a while ago due to not being able to afford any dental care. Well not my top teeth are growing into my gums where I have no teeth and its painful. What would be my best, inexpensive option? Should I have the bottom teeth pulled get a lower denture? thank you for your time doctor hughes

Do you think my receding gums are due to the hard splint that I wear?

Friday, May 18th, 2012
Q.

Some of my gums are receding. I’ve been wearing hard splints for 8 years. The diagnosis was bruxism. A year ago I started with a strong and nagging pain in my neck and some headaches in the morning. I;ve got a new splint wich helps me to get rid of the neck and head pain but I feel sore in the gums of my two front teeth and canines. My gums aren’t bleeding or red or swollen. I don’t have any problem of bad breath or tartar or caries. I’ve been at specialist in jaws and the jaws are fine. What can I do? I couldn’t get a splint well done here in UK. The one I’ve got doen’t fit and causes intolerable pain. I’ve spent 8 months complaining. Just the gums in my front teeth and two on the left are receded.

My front teeth hurt after having porcelain veneers fitted, what should I do?

Monday, January 30th, 2012
Q.

I had veneers fitted on my 8 front teeth -upper & lower – about 18 months ago and was in severe pain for about 4 months following the procedure. Since then i’ve been ok but for the past 3 days the pain in my front tooth is causing me the same distress, constant throbbing in my teeth, sore tongue & gums, sleepless nights and back on the pain-killers! How long should I put up with this pain before i seek medical assistance from my dentist? Will the pain subside like it did after 4 months after the initial treatment? Is it possible to have root canal treatment without removing the veneer & will this get rid of the pain I am in???

I am self conscious about my gums, what can I do about my upper lip line?

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011
Q.

i have an unsatisfactory smile due to abnormally revealed gum tissues only at the area of the four incisors, and the apparent length of the teeth is normal , is there any procedure to stop the upper lip while smiling at the right gum line position?? knowing that i am 23 years old and have normal front teeth length, contour and alignment.. but my previously mentioned problem has always had a terrible impact on me since i was a little girl.. it makes me always conscious about the look of my smile during all conversations.. i have never ever revealed my teeth in any photo of mine.
