My front teeth hurt after having porcelain veneers fitted, what should I do?

Q.
I had veneers fitted on my 8 front teeth -upper & lower – about 18 months ago and was in severe pain for about 4 months following the procedure. Since then i’ve been ok but for the past 3 days the pain in my front tooth is causing me the same distress, constant throbbing in my teeth, sore tongue & gums, sleepless nights and back on the pain-killers! How long should I put up with this pain before i seek medical assistance from my dentist? Will the pain subside like it did after 4 months after the initial treatment? Is it possible to have root canal treatment without removing the veneer & will this get rid of the pain I am in???
A.
I would seek the advice of a dentist immediately. There may be a way to remove the pain without touching the veneer at all but you must have the source of the pain diagnosed correctly first. Hope that helps but please don’t suffer seek help straight away. A dentist very experienced in veneers or even referral to an endodontic specialist can help

Best of luck

I had venners fitted 3 years ago and have been in pain every since. I complained to my dentist abot the pain, but he advised me to wait and see if it goes away, then after 1 year said well the time has lasped for me to do anything and referred me to the Dental Hospital who carried out root treatment and solved the problem until i went back to my dentist for a check up and he cleaned my teeth and the pain was back. The Dental has carried out more root treatment and several washing out of my tooth and i am still in pain. I havenow been referred to another Professer at the dental hospital. Do you have any idea what this can be. Thank you

Hi, I’m no dentist but I can tell you that when you have porcelain veneers you SHOULD’NT use whitening toothpaste or whitening strips because they can irritate the tooth.
Try using some regular toothpaste!
MY veneers would irritate me throughout the day and i asked my dentist and it turns out that even the toothpaste you use can irritate the tooth throughout the day.
Give it a try and let me know
