What options are there if unsure about getting dental crown?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Hello There; I am 54 female and advised by my dentist to have Crown PORC/Lava Crown UPGRA placed on 7 & 10 teeth. Additional he advised to go ahead and add 8 & 9 to that because it will be easier to have them all addressed at the same time, for size, match, etc. I’m at a loss and worried it may make my smile worse with more problems. Any advise?,

Have dental veneers darkened over time?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I had a complete restoration, Empress Crowns, with several veneers on the front lower teeth. The color I picked was the 2nd to the whitest on the color panel. I always wanted to have really white teeth and my smile was narrow…that is why I got the work done. Now, 7 years later, my teeth look almost 2 shades darker. I was told that the porcelain would not change color. What is happening and what can I do about it? My new dentist indicated that as I age, my real teeth are getting darker. My original dentist never mentioned any such thing. I thought I would always have a bright white smile.,

What treatment can help with tooth that sticks out?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I had 4 crowns fitted to my front four teeth approx 10 years ago. Within the last two years one of the crowns has moved and now juts forward so i cant close my mouth without it sitting on my bottom lip. I also have a huge overbite which I would like to have surgery to correct (my youbger sister has had this done recently on the nhs but is half my age). Im 38. My NHS dentist has told me there is no point replacing my crown as the same thing would happen again, but I so self concious of the way i look with my lower jaw so small and now with my tooth sticking through……I wonder if you could give me your thoughts ? many thanks,

Should I replace dental crowns?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I had my two front teeth broken when I was 12 years old and have had porcelain crowns since I was 15. I am now 33. I have an overbite, so my front teeth are noticeable when I smile, I have always been very self-concious about them. I have never liked my crowns, which were done by my local NHS dentist. They are slightly more yellow than my other teeth, which are all white and I do have very good dental hygiene and don’t have any problems with my teeth. I have asked my dentist about implants or new crowns, but they say i don’t need them replaced. I wish they didn’t protrude as much as they do, but am not sure implants are right for me or should I just get veneers or new crowns that are thinner and more white? Thank you,

What do with dental crown that keeps coming loose?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I have a double implant at the top back teeth. The abutment and implant are secure but the crown becomes loose every 6 months or so. My dentist uses temp bond each time to re cement the double crown and this seems to disintegrate. He says he prefers this as it is easier to remove but I don`t feel I can rely on it as it has just come loose for the 3rd time over Christmas. What should I do. The implant was performed by a top dental surgeon and not my dentist although he watch the proceedure,

Okay to leave fallen out dental crown until dentist returns?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
My crown has fallen out (back tooth) but my dentist is away from the practice for another week. I don’t really want to see a locum as my own dentist puts me at ease. As I’m not experiencing any pain/discomfort (yet!) will I cause further damage by waiting for my dentist’s return?,

Could abscess be caused by dental crown?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
When receiving a crown, should the crown touch the gum line? or is it ok for there to be a gap from the crown to the gum line? I ask this because I went into the dentist and received two crowns on both my baby teeth, in which I do not have an adult took under it. The one tooth where the crown touched the gum line resulted in being just fine, However; the other crown on my other tooth did not touch the gum line and I received an abscess tooth. Could it be the reason I received this abscess tooth be caused from improper fitting of the crown? It s it possible for food to get into my gums that way?,
