Im 19 and my teeth are discolored and has fillings of my back teeth I live in london pls advice

Q.
Hi Andrew, I am a 19 year old ex-bulimia sufferer. I had the disorder for about 3 years up until roughly six months ago. I know have very discoloured teeth, fillings in most of my back teeth, and visible cavities forming in the ones which do not have fillings yet. I did not discuss my disorder with my dentist as I felt too ashamed, however he did prescribe me a high fluoride toothpaste. As I have more cavities forming, I dont feel that the toothpaste is successful enough. I rarely want to or have reason to smile anymore and am so scared that my teeth are rotting. Also, my dentist has now left the practice I attend so each time I return to the surgery I am seen by a different temporary dentist. I know I need to find a new dentist who I can discuss my disorder with (although I am no longer bulimic) and hopefully find out what can be done to improve my teeth. I live in london – could you advise me on how to find a suitable dentist who deals with people like me? Thankyou for your time

My root post had been broken off is it true that i can have post without talking out the root

Saturday, July 18th, 2009
Q.
Hi I have a front tooth crown with a root post fitted that I have had for over 20 years. It has been replaced a few times due to it falling out. Unfortunately last time the crown came out the post had been found to have broken off inside the root. I have been told that the dentist can not remove the post without taking out the root of the tooth, so I had a new crown fitted with only half a post which keeps falling out. I have been told that a bridge is the next step, which I do not want and an implant is too expensive. Is the imformation correct about not being able to take out the post without removing the root. Do I have any other options. Many thanks

I got crown fitted by NHS dentist and now ive a large black dot on the tooth. what is it advice

Saturday, July 18th, 2009
Q.
I have recently gone to an NHS dentist for a crown fitting ( at the side) At the time of my consultation I asked if the crown would be procelain and I was told Yes, ( I had said I would pay extra for porcelain if necessary) I found when I arrived home that I have a large black dot on the underside of my tooth and a big black mark at the back.I will be complaining to the Dentist next week as I look as if I have a rotten tooth which needs filling. Have you heard of this type of situation before? Surely this is unacceptable – especially as I have had all my fillings replaced with white ones ( not at this dentist I might add) Many Thanks

How does one manages the fear of losing a veneer, crown or bonding while having a meeting

Thursday, July 16th, 2009
Q.
This is with regard to the loss of confidence. How does one manages the fear of losing a veneer, crown or bonding while having a meeting or doing an important presentation? Will there be tell-tale signs before a veneer, crown or bonding falls out? The fear to eat in case of damaging the veneer, crown and bonding also affects quality of life. Can you provide your thoughts and reassurance please? Thank you.

Ive a cracked tooth and my dentist said its need to be removed. Can it be fix using crowns

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am a NHS patient and I had root canal treatment on a lower molar some time back, the tooth was filled and recently a small part of the filling fell out and subsequently the tooth cracked vertically in one place. I went to the dentist who stated the crack had gone quite far down so had to remove that piece of the tooth. I must admit I am incredibly anxious about needles/dentistry so my memory is clouded by fear, however following a quick break and a flick of a piece of my tooth round my mouth – the dentist has stated I need to return ‘when I feel like it’ to have the remainder of the tooth removed and then either have a £200 denture, £1000 bridge or £2000 implant. It is basically the outer front corner of the molar that has been remove. My question is – could this not be fitted with a crown? do the options they have offered seem reasonable – clinically and financially?
