Could abscess be caused by dental crown?

Q. When receiving a crown, should the crown touch the gum line? or is it ok for there to be a gap from the crown to the gum line? I ask this because I went into the dentist and received two crowns on both my baby teeth, in which I do not have an adult took under it. The one tooth where the crown touched the gum line resulted in being just fine, However; the other crown on my other tooth did not touch the gum line and I received an abscess tooth. Could it be the reason I received this abscess tooth be caused from improper fitting of the crown? It s it possible for food to get into my gums that way?,
A. Abscesses are caused by a bacterial infection and can be caused by a number of factors.  Your dentist is the best person to assess the cause.
