Thursday, May 6th, 2010
Q.
I had a crown done about 4 months ago. i ate some dinner and in the middle of eatting my tooth under the crown had gotten senitive. Its been 45 minutes later and it will go off and on. When i bite down it feels the same way after i had gotten the crown done. Almost like small pressure. What do you think it may be? Its not loose.,

I’m not happy with the dental crowns that were made, what can I do if they’re still not right after another fitting?

Thursday, May 6th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have had 2 sets of crowns during 39 year period for front top teeth and am now in process of having new ones. I have always had a gap between my teeth and the crowns have been made slightly wider to accommodate this. At the fitting today of these crowns they looked like spades – more width than depth and as dentist put it “characterization” on them (looked like shrivelled prunes instead of smooth teeth). I refused them and insisted a new impression was made and to remove the “characterization” that she insisted she paid extra for. This was NHS, as my others were. The previous sets looked fantastic but these are horrific. If when it comes to fitting them and they still don’t right what can I do?,

I’ve been told that I have to have crown treatment now after only needing a filling, please advise me.

Q.
I wanted to change my metal fillings for white ones.I paid £150 to have one done and the experience was awful.THe dentist made me feel like a naughty school child making remarks such as”You can make this longer if you like”I was told my the receptionist that as he started my treatment then he would have to continue. The new filling I had was so uncomfortable and extremelely painful when I chewed but again I was told only “my dentist”could rectifty the problem.Reluctantly I have gone back to the same man to have another filling replaced but as I have been grinding down on a bottom tooth he now says I have to have a crown costing £490I please advise.thanks,

There’s a huge gap between my new crown and tooth, is this normal?

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Q.
I recently had the crown/abutment placed on an implant in the tooth #14 space. There is a substantial gap between this new crown and tooth #15 and everytime I eat, food gets stuck in between the teeth and a toothpick must be used to get it out. Is this right? The dental assistant said this is just how it is. Any help would be much appreciated.,

Is this the correct price for a dental crown?

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Q.
Hi I wanted to get my bottom lateral and central incisors crowned but I heard you get charged per tooth and that it costs around £300+ for a crown, meaning it would cost a minimum of £1200 to get those 4 little teeth done, is this really the case? If so are there any cheaper alternatives? A friend of mine recommended a dentistry where student dentists carry out the procedures for cheap but I didn’t much like the sound of that. Another friend of mine told me there was a dentist scheme in Birmingham that offered students cold crowns who were in or completed college. It sounded a bit odd to me but I thought I’d run it by you just in case it’s true. Also I am 20 and unemployed. I don’t know if that would qualify me for cheaper treatment but I thought I’d mention it just in case. Thanks for your time.

I have to have my crowns that were fitted by the NHS now fitted privately, is this right?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Q.
Over 30 years ago I had posted full porcalin crowns fitted with root canal treatment (4). I need them replaced due to falling over and upsettign them over 2 years ago they have now gone out of line. My dentist originally said she would replace these and after attending a appointment for 1st fiitting said that the NHS do not do these anymore and I would have to go private. This seems so unfair they were originally fitted by the NHS . Is this true or is it the lab that they use.,
