Can you recommend anything that can replace my bonded fillings?

Friday, May 21st, 2010
Q.
hi I am a denplan customer via a nhs dentist and have had a lot of work on my teeth (crowns, fillings etc). i have two bonded fillings on the front of two bottom teeth. For the past 2 years (up to that point they stayed in for years ) now they regularly pop out every 2-3 months. My dentist says its because I grind my teeth at night and the pressure makes them ping out. He recommended a mouth guard for night which I hate in my mouth. He says he doesnt mind replacing them every 3 months but I find it tedious and frustrating. Is there anything stronger or any other suggestions please? (not crowns yet if pos). Kind regards.,

Is it worth getting lava caps at this point or should I wait until my teeth are in the more “ruined” state?

Friday, May 21st, 2010
Q.
My 4 front upper teeth are somewhat chipped and have had several bonding procedures. I have asked my dentist for a way of preserving the teeth from further chipping and deterioration. He suggested Lava caps. My biggest concern is about the filing of the tooth. My dentist said that old bonding will be filed off but also he will need to file off some of my teeth. Is it worth doing at this point or should I wait until my teeth are in the more “ruined” state? I am concerned because I always remember being told that it’s better to retain as much of the natural tooth as possible. What should I do??? Thank you ever so much for your advise.

Should I have my dental crown replaced?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I hope you can give me some advice. I had a crown fitted (with a root canal) about 2 1/2 years ago. When I first had it done I had to go back several times to have it put back in as it just wasnt secure, she them put a post in it but it has come loose again!. I have just been back to another dentist who put it in again for me but said it probably wouldnt stay because my gums are inflamed around that area and its not going in properly. I am just getting sick of going back and back again. Should I have another crown done? What do you think would be the solution? Hope you can help. Regards.

Would implants be a better option than re-crowning?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010
Q.
Hi i broke my 2 front teeth as a teenager and have had the same Crowns ever since (prob 15 years now!) A couple of years later i had to have the tooth next to my front teeth crowned as i chipped this tooth also. Now there are gaps between my crowns and my gums which leave my gum line looking black. The front 2 caps are not straight and due to the shape of my gums one appears longer than the other and protrudes more. What are my options as i am desperate to improve their appearance? Would implants be a better option than recrowning as would these then appear straight and the same size? Or would i have to have these Crowed again… all i want is a straight healthy whiter looking smile without the black line around the tops of my gums. WHat rough cost would be needed for treatment?,

Q.
Hi Dr. Tennet, I recently had crowns on teeth#8&9. They are quite painful and sore, is this normal? They were put on about three weeks ago, what do you suggest I do? Thanks, Also I noticed that on tooth#8, my natural tooth is showing under the crown, and at the gumline the crown is quite rough as well.,

I don’t want my new crown to look too high, what should I do?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello. I had an old PFM crown on my peg lateral removed because it had a dark line showing at the gum and has caused an amalgam tattoo. I currently have a temporary crown while waiting for my permanent. My dentist removed some of the gum (contouring?) because it sat much lower than the surrounding teeth. To me, it looks like she removed too much. She said she did that on purpose because the gum comes down after the procedure. It has been two weeks and it is still high. I believe she made a mistake. I asked another dentist on this site and he said it is true that the gum generally comes down. How can that be? I am nervous because my amalgam goes up so high under my gum that I don’t want my new crown to either look too high or show the amalgam. I went 20 years with a bad crown and was looking forward to a nice new one.,

What treatments can I get through the NHS in regards to my particular case?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I just got back from the dentist who has checked my two front teeth which were very wobbly but still in place. They were put back in when i lost them as a teenager but they recently became loose again. After doing the X-Rays, she has told me that the crowns have come away from the roots. She did explain some of the options available to me but she spoke very fast! Implants were one option but they seem really expensive and I’m not really in a position to be able to afford them. The other option she gave me was getting a bridge but suggested that the ‘adhesive’ option wouldn’t be available due to my second teeth being too small which is what is available on the NHS. I’m still not convinced by that. Perhaps just cynicism around dental fvees, (no offence) I don’t know. I’m now struggling to locate exactly what i can get on the NHS and what i would be able to afford. Any information would be useful,
