There’s a huge gap between my new crown and tooth, is this normal?

Q. I recently had the crown/abutment placed on an implant in the tooth #14 space. There is a substantial gap between this new crown and tooth #15 and everytime I eat, food gets stuck in between the teeth and a toothpick must be used to get it out. Is this right? The dental assistant said this is just how it is. Any help would be much appreciated.,
A. I would ask the dentist to take another look
