How much will it cost for a dental implant?

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Q.
Due to a RTA I have now been told that I have to have a front tooth implant and that the Third Party is liable for the cost. I have had to have an appointment with a “Dental Expert” and he has estimated that a crown for the implant will cost approximately £500 however I have streesed that this will not cover the cost of the crown. Can you provide me with an estimate (although I know that you have very limited knowledge of my case) THanks,

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Q.
I want to go for Cosmetic surgery, but confused to make choice between metal ceramic combination crown and pure ceramic crown. Because cost is quiet high for pure ceramic crown. Can you please suggest the best option and why should I go for that option?,

Friday, April 9th, 2010
Q.
Good Afternoon I am very confused!!! I want four crown on my upper front teeth, I have a crown on one of them and other two are discoloured and have large fillings. I went to see one dentist and he suggested that I get Lumminners, but can they be made as crowns? or are they just veneers? are they suttable for old crown and large filling? I am also considering CEREC crowns. Can you advise what is the best option? Would all ceramic crowns be better? I am very unsure what to choose…,

Should my dentist have to pay for the crown that HE broke?

Friday, April 9th, 2010
Q.
My wife has had a crown for 3 1/2 years that has recently become loose. She went to our family dentist of 25 years to have it adjusted and it broke when he was trying to sand it down. He said it would cost her $1,400 for a new crown. Since he is the one that broke the crown, shouldn’t he replace it and only charge her for the office visit?,

Will the old tooth be removed the second time around due to a replacement crown?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010
Q.
I had a crown done on two teeth when I was younger after a bike accident, straight away I went to a private dentist to get crowns put on, they’ve now been shut down and so I’m going to have to start going somewhere new. This is the first time after the accident that I need my crowns re-done. I have no idea what they will do and was wondering what will happen, I’m pretty scared about this, and would rather know in advance the things they might do. When I had the first crowns done, some of the old tooth was still there, for the second time round, will that get taken out? And sorry, was not sure who to ask the question to.,

I have a gap between my crown and my gum, what do you suggest?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010
Q.
I had two (2) caps installed at the dentist. One feels ok, but the other has a slight gap between the top of the cap and the gums. The gums just barely touches the top of the cap so as a result, the gums just above the cap stays red, inflamed and is hard to brush because it’s painful. Thanks in advance for and information.,

Can you make a rough crown feel smooth?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
When my crown was put in, the dentist had to grind the top of it to fit against the opposing tooth. While doing that he also ground the side of the crown that faces my tongue – not for fit, I think he just slipped. I told him it felt rough (no anesthesia), so he grinded the whole side of the crown to smooth the scratches. It is still rough, not smooth and polished like normal teeth or the other side of the crown, which he did not grind. I find myself rubbing my tongue on it (which has actually made my tongue sore – obsessive, I know!). I am wondering if it is common practice to grind the side of the tooth and if it is possible to put some sort of enamel on it to give it a smooth surface?,

I would like porcelain crowns on the NHS, please help.

Monday, March 29th, 2010
Q.
I am 45 and 10 weeks pregnant, I have a broken tooth which has previously had root canal work and been advised that I need all my crowns renewed (9 in total)I have been quoted £5k and have asked for NHS work. The dentist advised me that NHS do not provide porcelain crowns. Please advise me how I retain a “real teeth” look without having to adopt 9 lumps of metal in my mouth. My preference is porcelain crowns but anything remotely white will do. Please help me find an affordable option to my problem.,
