I am having really bad trouble with tooth pain and my dentist might have made it worse. Should I seek a second opinion or continue with my current dentist?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I had my impacted wisdom tooth extracted 4 weeks ago and my molar tooth has been badly damage. The filling on the neighbouring tooth crumble according to the surgeons. I have been to my dentist to have another filling put in last week but have started having throbbing pain which resulted into an unbearable pain which i needed to go back my dentist in an emergency. The dentist i saw advised me to to have the tooth taken. I declined as the upper tooth directly rest on the damage tooth. The dentist suggested a denture, bridge or a crown. I liked the idea of a bridge or a crown but the dentist said putting a crown in might not be successful as having a root canal procdure can be difficult as the damage tooth is right at the back of my mouth and also the NHS wont cover a bridge since it’s not a tooth missing in the front. The dentist have been working on the root canal procedure and havent been successful with a and reckons she night have gone beyond the root and damage the tooth. Please i am in a dilemma and i need a second opinion what to do as i need a tooth to support the upper tooth otherwise it will down on my gum. Shall i see another dentist or carring seeing my dentist as i have been appointed again on the 26th August ’10? Many thanks,

Is it normal to have sensitive teeth after having crowns fitted?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi, ive just had four crowns done and having another 6 soon, upper front, as i have overbite and badly filled teeth. When i had the 4 prepared and had temps one of them was very sensitive, and whilst having the crowns fitted it was very painful, which i explained to my dentist. I honestly thought the tooth was infected. 2 weeks on and its still a little sensitive and im very cautious with chewing, is this normal??,

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
Hi Doctor. Last Nov 2010 my front upper 4 tooths has been crowned with resin/plastic. As i noticed initial 6 months there is no color change but for last three month its started changing its color to off-white & now turning to bad yellowish. Its looks so horrible. 1. Now advise me, is there any procedure to clean & back to normal color or i have to again go for a new crown. 2. Also Plz suggest the name of best crown & which will not change its color & run long life. I would appreciate if u answer in detail. Thanks,

I am due to have a crown fitted but I am suffering from pain in the tooth nerve. Should I have root canal treatment?

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
One of my back teeth has recently git damaged and I was told by my dentist that I would need a crown. He sprayed the back tooth to see if the nerve was still active, and I nearly hit the roof as it was so painful, my dentist said he had to do that to see if the nerve was ok. My dentist has ground down the tooth ready for the crown, and Im due to have the crown fitted on Friday, but since yesterday I have had cronic pain around that tooth, it feels very nervy and painful, should I have had a root canal? and will it be ok to just add a crown over the nerve? Id hate to have a crown fitted and then suffer with this pain. Thanks,

Is there anything I can do to prevent further gum recession, and do I need to get old crowns replaced?

Friday, August 13th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have 3 front top crowns which are over 25 years old! one of them – the gum has receded slightly and there’s a gap which sometimes during the day is catching slightly on the inside of my lip. im absolutely terrified of the dentist, i can still remember the whole afternoon in the chair getting them done. Can i do anything to halt any further gum receding, am i brushing too hard, has the crown moved, do i need to get it replaced. thank you so much.,
