The new bridge had gaps between the teeth please advice

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009
Q.
Hello Andrew, My bridge has been replaced due to gum recession and my dentist fitted me with a new one made from zirconia. The new bridge had gaps between the teeth that I felt looked awful and he has now filled them,He also had to take some off the length as they were far to long, this seems to have taken the shine off the bottom edge. I am worried that the stuff that he has filled them with will not last or will discolour, He has offered to redo the bridge but I am now too worried to have this one removed and I have lost confidence in him. He has told me not to pay the final payment until I am happy but now I dont know what to do. Would really appreciate some advice.

Would it make a difference if a permanent cement was used for my bridges?

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Q.
Thanks for the answer about the bridge with two implants with a false tooth on each side of. Would it make a difference if a very permanent cement was used. I don’t like the idea of them coming loose even though no damage is done to implants – it’d still be a traumatic experience worse than just a gumsy smile with the steel looking rods showing. Would do you think?

If Ive an extraction how long to I have to perform a bridge or implant?

Friday, August 7th, 2009
Q.
Next to the last molar top left of my mouth has had a root canal & crown (lont time ago) with re-treatment of root canal about 5 years ago. After infection and appt was told the root is cracked (11/08). I hesitate extraction and subsequent implant for financial reasons. It has not become re-infected to my knowledge. I have had a headache for 3 weeks. Could the tooth issue cause this? If I have it extracted (partically covered by insurance) how long to I have to perform a bridge or implant? Are their other options? Again cost is a huge factor. Wish it was the back tooth – I’d have it pulled without anything else, however this effects my smile.

Can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth next to each other

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had an abcess that damaged a tooth at the side of my mouth (bottom jaw) and caused the tooth to fall out unfortunatly it caused some damage to the tooth next to it and I am now left with the root of the tooth that fell out plus half the tooth next to it – Dentist said I should have the root extracted – he said the half tooth next to it should also be extracted because he can’t save it (he did say I could leave it in as its not causing me any pain but won’t leaving it cause damage to my gums and other surrounding teeth? Also suggested I could have dentures to replace the 2 missing teeth on the NHS – how will they fit / feel – will I have to have some sort of plate in my mouth to keep them in place(won’t this feel uncomfy like a brace) could I not opt for a bridge instead as I understand you can have a bridge on the NHS but not sure how they work – can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth that are next to eachother – scared about having 2 teeth out and being left with a gap or having dentures – I am only 35 can you please help advise me best course of action. Thank you

My mother has few of her own teeth what are the options for her?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
My mother is eighty years young and has only a few of her own teeth,(front/bottom) On a very recent visit to our dentist we explained how much her remainig teeth meant to her and could they be improved/saved? we asked about crowns, bridges, etc. His responce was quite negative and he put a very light coloured filling in one tooth and said that was about all that could be done!. I realise you can only coment generally without having more clinical information but your reponse would be appreciated very much. Regards

I am not happy with my temp bridges can you advice?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
I got a fixed bridge about 10 months ago and my dentist told me it was a temp/perm bridge and it should last 1-2 years. I recently had to get it recemented, so while I was there I asked if they could fix one of the teeth on there as it had a gap from my gumline and I was getting food caught in it. The dental assistant or whatever her title is ended up making it look completely unnatural and it doesnt even feel right now. I expressed how unhappy I was with the situation and they now said that this bridge needs replaced with a permanent one and that the one I have now is pretty must expired. I have no idea how to handle the situation and I dont know why they did this to me. Is there such a thing as a temp/ perm or should they have given me a perm in the first place? Help!!!!
