Will dentures cause speech problems? If so how to overcome it?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I have been told that gum disease has caused severe bone loss in my jaw leading to some of my teeth being wobbly and some on the very edge of falling out. The dentist was not even sure if there would be enough bone for implants. I need advice on dentures as I am only 40 and feel devastated about having all my teeth extracted and I am also an opera singer and worry that my singing might be affected by wearing dentures. What type of dentures might be available to me and will it affect my singing.

Are dental implants a permanent alternatives for missing or removed teeth?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I was suffering from toothache a month or so ago – caused by an abscess, which in turn was caused by gum decease. Although I brush, floss and use mouthwash regularly; like many people: if it isn’t a problem, I don’t go to the dentist. And in my case, I hadn’t been to a dentist in over 20 years. I’ve been told that I’ll probably require a bridge… The thought of having to remove a false tooth for cleaning fills me with dread! If I have to have the tooth removed – and because it’s in a prominent place (lower front) are there any ‘permanent’ alternatives… ie. Fix and forget?

what might be the cause for the bridge to fall out?

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Q.
Have had a permnement 5 teeth 2front eye tooth ,2 sides next to them bridge 12 yrs in..just fell out on it’s own . no hurting, just fell out. same day went to dentist, said it broke off both teeth that held the bridge on..put in plastic barb one side medal barb where front tooth was.been very painful for 2 months under the front tooth only,i have no 5 teeth mind you. just bridge.he said i probably fractured the root. never ever hurt before he really driled out the ,i assume the excess part of the tooth broken off at gum line both doctors are stumped as to why it hurts so bad.. i’ve also had root canal on it , over the yrs.never a problem in 12 yrs, till bridge was reattached..can’t front bite like hamberger bun or soft slices of peaches, without it causeing pain, sometimes very bad through the whole night.been on z-pac 5 days now another z-pac.any idea of what is happening? any answer would be very much appreciated.

Q.
Hi Dr. Moore, My bridge, which I have had for 6 years fell out the other day which was a shock as it didn’t seem loose at all. Can it be re-fitted or do the dentist usually make a new bridge? I have an appointment on Friday with my local dentist and hope it can be fixed.
