Are There Any Financial Plans Available To Help With The Costs Of Dental Treatment? I Need Braces.

Monday, August 18th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark,

I’m 20 years old and have an open bite as well as two milk lateral incisors. No dentist has mentioned my milk teeth to me, but I was referred to an orthodontist for braces when I was 18. However, due to my age I would have had to pay out £5k so I decided to leave it.

These days, my teeth don’t bother me that much but I would like to correct my open bite at the least due to feeling paranoid when people notice it.

My question to you would be whether there are any insurance plans that may help cover the costs of braces? Or perhaps you have some additional advice for me? My dental hygiene is near perfect, and I only have two fillings.

Thanks for taking the time to read my query and I hope that you may be able to help me!

Kind regards.

Is The Inman Aligner Available On The NHS If You’re Under 18? I Need Quick Orthodontic Treatment Over The Summer Holidays?

Monday, August 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I have a simple question for you. Can you get an Inman Aligner on the NHS if you’re under 18? I wouldn’t be able to go to so many orthodontist appointments with school and exams so a quick treatment that would be mostly in the summer holiday would be ideal and my family aren’t able to pay for over £1000 for them. I’m really self-conscious about smiling and even talking because you can just see points of my teeth. Also can Inman Aligners push front teeth together and fix the left incisor overlapping with a front tooth? Thank you for getting in touch.

My Tooth Fractured After Root Canal Treatment. I Now Have Three Options For This Tooth And I’d Like To Know How Much A Dental Implant?

Friday, August 15th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I have been having treatment over the last 3 months for a crown on one of my upper front teeth. I had to have root canal treatment for a crown to be fitted but after the crown was fitted the remaining part of the old tooth fractured. I now have 3 options for this tooth: a plate, a bridge or an implant. How much would it cost for an implant please?
Where would the surgery be carried out please? When could it be done? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

I Have A Few Pointy Teeth. Can They Be Filed Down To Be Level? Would This Make My Teeth Sensitive?

Friday, August 15th, 2014
Q.

Hey Dr Hughes, I have a tooth that sticks out so whenever I smile you can see it creeping out. It’s so annoying. It’s on the top left hand side and slightly come out over my middle tooth. Can anything be done about this? Could it be filled down or something? Also I have a few of pointy teeth on the top and bottom can they also be filed down to be levelled? Would getting anything of this sort make my teeth sensitive? I once had my teeth whitened and my teeth really hurt so much, like a shocking pain for 2 weeks. Also how much would this cost me?

Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you soon. Regards.

I Have Four Front Teeth Missing And Would Like To Know My Denture Options As I’m Getting Married Next Year?

Friday, August 15th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I have had my 4 front upper teeth missing for a number of years now. I had bad teeth ever since I was a child and my 2 back teeth each side on lower(wisdom) are also missing. What options have I got as I don’t know which denture treatment I need and the costs as I’m self employed? They get me down and I need to do something about them as I want to get married in the next year and want to be able to smile. My teeth are bad and I feel ashamed to go to local dentist. Thanks.

Half Of My Top Set Of Teeth Are Broken. I Want To Smile In Photographs With My Family. Could I Pay For Dental Treatment On A Monthly Basis?

Friday, August 15th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I am 47 years old and I want to have a photograph taken with my family and smile, which I have not been able to do. I would like to know if I can pay on a monthly basis? My top teeth have 2 screws in them them and half of them are broken. I have been told by one dentist that one tooth is badly damaged and when it’s taken out may take up to three months to heal unless I can go private. Could you give me any advice on what treatments I might need? Thank you for your time.

I am an actor and model and this is holding my work back as well as making me extremely self conscious with this problem. I need this done fast and price is a factor so I need all options.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to your reply.

I Have A Maternity Exemption Card. Will I Be Able To Get Dental Crowns Fitted For Free?

Thursday, August 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. My 4 front teeth are becoming thin as my enamel is wearing away which makes me insecure but also makes my teeth really sensitive. I have a maternity exemption card. If I ask my dentist to fit the crowns will I get this for free or do they have the final decision as to whether I need them or not? Or also are dental crowns the best solution or would veneers help me? Would love some advice so I can go to the dentist with a bit of information.

Thanks.

I Had A Tooth Removed And Braces For 2/3 Years. Now, Whenever I Smile, It Doesn’t Look Normal. What Can Be Done?

Thursday, August 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello there! I am currently a student and for probably 8 years of my life I have had a lot of dental care due to having an extra tooth on top of my front tooth which prevented my front tooth to come down. This resulted to having an operation to remove the extra tooth which meant that the original front tooth was knocked out of the pathway. The dentist then attached a gold chain to that front tooth and pulled the tooth down over the course of 2/3 years. This is when I received braces for a good 2/3 years. This resulted to my gum being extended after the tooth came down so when I smile it doesn’t look normal at all. I wanted to have veneers done but I wanted to know how much it would be overall to sort out my gum and replace my tooth because it is still slanted. Thank you very much!

I Had A Crown Re-stuck The Other Day And Now I Have A Gap Between My Front Teeth. Could You Tell Me How To Fix This?

Thursday, August 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel. I have three crowns on my front teeth. I am 47 and have had them for about 20 years! I had a crown re-stuck the other day by my dentist and I now have a gap between my front teeth. I never had a gap naturally or when original crowns fitted.
I returned to dentist who said he could not get the crown out and he’d have to “cut it” out. Is this correct? Anyway he took an X-ray and said I still had two “rumbling” infections above my two front right crowns. I had an apicoectomy a long time ago now and I don’t want to repeat the experience.
He said my only options are to fill the gap by adding some sort of material to my left front natural tooth to close the gap, but he said it would angle out from the top which sounds awful! Could you tell me how I can fix this? Thank you for your time.
