Should I Choose Lumineers to Close Gaps?

Tuesday, January 13th, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have gap between my front teeth, and I am not opting for braces because I know that gaps open up after some time. I was thinking about going for veneers but keeping in mind their durability and the fact that my teeth have to be trimmed, I am thinking about going for Lumineers. I’m just worried about if they will suit me? What should I go for? Thank you, any advice would be happily received.

How Much Would It Cost to Have Veneers Placed On All My Teeth?

Tuesday, January 13th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have had many problems with my teeth since I fell pregnant with my son. As time has passed, they have become worse. I have cracks in my teeth and I’m starting to get pains in my mouth. As well as having these problems, I’ve become very self-conscious. As a mother of two children, it’s hard to have my children see my teeth when I get them to look after theirs. I wondered how much it would cost to have all of my teeth veneered? Also, if you arrange any payment plans? Thank you.

Can I Get Dental Implants on the NHS?

Tuesday, January 13th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have recently been in a car accident, and have lost two and a half teeth and chipped a fourth tooth, all at the front of my mouth. My teeth are usually in good condition but I don’t currently have a dentist. I am looking for an NHS dentist in Manchester to give me dental implants. Is this something you could help me with? If you could get back to me with some information this would great, thank you.

What is the Best Way to Restore my Lower Molars?

Monday, January 12th, 2015
Q.

Good evening Dr Hughes. I would like to get more information on dental bridges. A few weeks ago my dentist extracted two teeth on different sides of the jaw. Both teeth were in the same place, just different side of the mouth, the lower jaw molars. What is the best way to restore them? Would it be bridges or something else? My other teeth are healthy, but it’s getting difficult to chew any solid food.. What are the prices of dental bridge and how long does this procedure last? Thank you.

What is the Quickest and Most Affordable Way to Straighten Teeth?

Monday, January 12th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. My smile makes me look goofy. My two front teeth are big compared to the rest and it makes me feel horrible. I wouldn’t be able to pay for everything all at once, and would need some help with finance to pay out of my wages each month. I want my teeth at the top to be put back and in line with my bottom teeth, and for my teeth to be straightened out in the quickest and most affordable way. I am only 21. What would be my best option? Thank you for your help.

Can Bridges be Made from Anything Other Than Metal?

Friday, January 9th, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. My 15 year old son has just had bridges fitted for two missing teeth either side of front two teeth. He has had two years with braces to get his teeth into the right position for this treatment. Unfortunately, the metal that is now behind his two front teeth makes his teeth look grey, the colour of the metal. Could he have had the bridge made of anything other than metal that wouldn’t show through the teeth, and is it too late to change this?
Thank you.

What is the Procedure for Adjusting Dental Implants?

Thursday, January 8th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have a implant that I have had for 17 years, I had it placed when I was 16 to replace a missing tooth. I’m not happy with it, as the tooth begins much higher up then the rest of my teeth. This results in the tooth reaching to half way down the rest of my teeth, and it just looks really strange, almost as if I have a chipped tooth. It is making me really conscious about smiling as it is next to my front teeth and always on show. What would be the procedure to get this fixed? Could it even be fixed, and what would the cost be?

Thank you very much!

Will Invisible Braces be Suitable for my Overlapping Teeth?

Thursday, January 8th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I’m 56 years old and have just over the last few years noticed that my teeth are starting to overlap. I think it is my incisors on both sides, although one side is worse than the other. I really need some advice please. I am wanting to know if you think having cosmetic surgery will be a better solution for me due to my age, or will the invisible braces be more suitable for me? Please get back to me soon, thanks for your help.

What Methods are Available to Save a Tooth, Other Than Root Canal Treatment?

Friday, December 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark,

I have just been to see a new dentist today, who preaches non-amalgam fillings which is something I value as I am into alternative medicine.
He has advised me to have a root canal, which I am rather sceptical about. I have done a lot of reading from Weston A Price’s findings over the years and he strongly doesn’t advocate a root canal as in essence the tooth is left dead. He mentions that, even though the main canal is treated and sterilised, all the other tubes and canals are close to impossible to sterilise in the one sitting a dentist would perform in a standard ‘root canal’ treatment. Therefore, when the procedure is performed and the tooth is left dead, it can harbour all types of bacteria, presenting multiple diseases and problems to the body.
My question would be, do you advocate any other form of treatment (i.e. ozone injections) that could potentially save the tooth? Or would you agree with extraction? If so, as I value my teeth, I wouldn’t feel overly comfortable in having a missing tooth. What could be done then, if an extraction was to take place? Implant? Bridge? Would these be free of metal? Thanks in advance.
