Is There Any Chance The Adhesive Glue From My Braces Could Cause My Teeth To Chip?

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Marcus. I brush my teeth twice a day as usual yet over last few years my teeth seem to chip and are becoming thinner. My own dentist said it’s down to personal care. What can I do? Also two of my teeth have been removed due to breaking and I feel like at any time another could break as they look so thin. During my last check up they mentioned I have glue on my teeth from when I had braces at 12/13 years old and that there has been damage around the glue. I feel like I’m getting no answers and that I’ll lose all my teeth if nothing is done.

When I Stopped Wearing My Retainer And Now My Teeth Are Starting To Relapse. Is There Any Other Way Of Straightening Teeth?

Friday, December 20th, 2013
Q.

I have had a standard metal brace for a year then I got rid of it. They then gave me a clear retainer mould of my teeth to wear every night. I wore the retainer for the first couple of months then I started to wear it less frequently until I came to the point when I did not wear it at all. During this time period, my teeth started to move again, the gaps began to return and now my teeth are straight, however I still have small gaps. I went back to my orthodontist and they have said wear the retainer everyday and I am going to do that but I am worried my teeth will return with gaps. My next appointment is in a month so I am going to trial this idea. I would like to know is there any other treatment that can straighten your teeth?

My Tooth Has Returned To It’s Original Sate After Orthodontic Treatment. What Are My Options?

Thursday, December 19th, 2013
Q.

Hi there,

I had braces many years ago but since then one particular tooth has returned to its original state.

I’m 23 now and am wondering what my options are, I guess I’m similar to other people in that the priority is invisible solutions.

My other question is whether the treatments are lessened, quicker, or different if there is one particular problem area as oppose to a mouthful of issues. For example getting lingual braces upon just the small surrounding area of the tooth in question. Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Kind regards.

My Teeth Have Begun To Shift Alignment Since My Mid-Twenties. What Will Sort This Out?

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013
Q.

I have always had quite cosmetic teeth. However, since my mid-twenties, I have noticed that my two front teeth seem to be slowly shifting to the right. The middle of one of my front teeth is now aligned with the middle of my lips.

Another tooth has become crooked and is now slightly covering one of my front teeth. I was told that this tooth can be fixed with braces.

I have a genetic overbite which I am happy with. However, I am concerned about the shifting of my two front teeth. They are still perfectly straight – just moving to the right. Is this likely to get worse over time? Is there any treatment that I can have to move them back to the centre of my mouth and keep them there?

Many thanks.

My Incisors Are Bent And Displaced From Their Actual Position. What Treatment Could Fix This Problem For Me?

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I wonder if you can help me. I am 18 years old. I have a problem that my two central incisors in the upper half are a little inwardly bent and the two lateral incisors (on both sides of the central incisors) are displaced from their actual position. They have shifted a little backwards in my mouth. I am not able to speak properly because of this and I would like ideas on what would be the best way to fix this problem? I also have a problem in my lower half. One of my canines is displaced backwards. Thank you for listening, I’m just after some information really.

My Daughter Has Lost All Her Milk Teeth And She Has An Overbite. Would She Get Free Treatment On The NHS?

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013
Q.

Hello! I have a daughter who is 13 years old and she has lost all of her milk teeth. She has an overbite, a cross-bite and her two front canines are very crooked. She also wakes up every morning with a very sore jaw. She is happy to have braces as most of her friends have them. I have had many recommendations from family, other mothers and our family dentists. My daughter really has low self esteem and does not like the way her teeth stick out like vampire fangs, so her confidence will really really benefit from braces. She also likes drama and acting so would like to look good for performances. I wanted to know, would my daughter get free treatment on the NHS?

I Recently Got Laid Off And I Need Braces, Will The NHS Provide The Treatment?

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013
Q.

Hey Dr Moore. I’m 20 years old and I have always worked but I recently got laid off and now I’m on jobseekers allowance, but I really need braces as my front teeth are not too bad but they hurt at times and it feels like they’re pushing each other out and it’s painful. So now they’re overlapping a little bit and I have been scared to go back to the dentist because the last time I had a really bad experience.  Just wanted some help and advice, Hope you can help me and offer any other suggestions. Thanks.

What Would You Suggest Is The Best Route To Go For When Straightening My Teeth?

Wednesday, November 13th, 2013
Q.

Do you offer finance for veneers? If so, I have been recommended by you but worried I may have to go down the brace route rather than veneers.

My left lateral incisor falls behind my other teeth, I’m confident my teeth are healthy and my left central incisor may be slightly in front of my others, which I if you look from a right profile they look perfect, but left I look like I have just one tooth missing. My top teeth all overlap my bottom except that one tooth. What would you suggest from this before a consultation?

Thanks.

I’ve Noticed My Teeth Have Started To Overlap, Would A Retainer Worn At Night Halt The Teeth Overlapping Further?

Wednesday, November 13th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I am 65 years old and have noticed that over the past few years, that the upper right teeth appear to be moving forward. I can see that now one front tooth appears to be beginning slightly to overlap in the middle. I do not want the tooth to move any further. At my age, I do not want to wear a permanent brace. My dentist thinks that a brace worn just at night may halt the teeth overlapping further. Would you kindly give me advice on this? Many thanks for your help.

I’ve Wanted To Straighten My Teeth For A Long Time. Which Discreet Braces Are Most Suitable?

Friday, November 8th, 2013
Q.

Hi. I’ve wanted to straighten my front
teeth for a long time as one slightly crosses over the other.
However I wanted a brace fitted for the shortest possible time and something clear so no one can tell I’m wearing one.
Which type of brace would you recommend?
I’ve looked at lingual and simpli5 but I’m unsure as to whether either would
be suitable as my front teeth cross at the bottom. Many thanks, it’s much appreciated.
