I Struggle to Speak After My Treatment. What Should I Do?

March 13th, 2015
Q.

Sir, I have huge gap between my six upper front teeth. I went to the dentist and he trimmed my all six teeth and placed a bride with two extra fake teeth. After the treatment I am not able to speak properly and it is very uncomfortable for me. Do I have another choice to get out of these problems? I am really tense and scared of re-treating them again. Before going to the dentist I didn’t have any problems. I just wanted to improve the aesthetics. And now I am thinking this was the biggest mistake.

How Can I Get Help With My Missing Teeth?

March 13th, 2015
Q.

I am a 32 year old female who has lost her front bridge because of a car crash. I am now on jobseekers and also getting bullied (the police are helping). I started to self harm and I hate myself for starting that. I do not want to seem vain but I am missing 3 teeth in the front. Everyday life is hard to deal with. My wish was to have an family but I no longer want that now as I think who would want someone like me with no teeth? Please help me, I really don’t want to give up on life. I do not know how or where to start. I need any help or info. Many thanks, looking forward to hearing from anyone.

Should I Whiten My Teeth Before Replacing my Crowns?

March 12th, 2015
Q.

Good evening. I have purchased a deal online to get my crowns re-done with a lighter colour. I would like laser teeth whitening and I know this does not work on fake teeth hence the reason for my purchase of new crowns. However, I am doing the procedures separately as I found a separate deal on Groupon for £79 for Zoom! teeth whitening in Kensington. Should I get the whitening done before replacing the crowns, and will it be OK that the procedures are separate? Also is Zoom! a good make? Thank you.

My Crown Looks and Feels Too Big. Is This Normal?

March 12th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I had a lower right incisor crown fitted and it appears and feels too big for my mouth, it also shows metal at the back of tooth and you can see a black outline were my gum is. Is this normal? I cannot close my teeth together or they rub off each other. It looks to big when you look at the back and feel the front with your finger. I’m very disappointed with the work that was carried out. What should I do and how should it look? Thank you.

What Options Do I Have as a Nervous Patient?

March 12th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I have a huge fear of the dentist. I need a lot of work done and ultimately want to get caps or crowns on all my teeth so they look nice for the first time in my life.

Because of my fear I am looking for a dentist that will knock me out so I don’t know what is going on.

I can no longer eat properly for fear of one of my teeth falling out so I tend to just have liquid food, so I don’t have to bite down or chew.

I also need a finance option, as I know a lot of work needs to be done and wont be able to afford all of the treatment up front.

Please help.

Is There Financial Help Available for Dental Implants?

March 12th, 2015
Q.

I have quite an extensive medical history including severe SLE and Antiphospholipid Syndrome as well as other ailments. I have always had problems with my teeth and gums. I have receding gums and tooth loss. I have a pronounced top jaw and had fixed braces which were removed because of the SLE when I was 13, and I’m now 30.
Recently, I had aortic heart valve replacement surgery. I’m worried my declining tooth health is going to have a major impact on the heart and need advice on what to do next. I would like to possibly look into the teeth in a day option but I’m worried about the cost. Is there help available for someone with such health problems? I work full time when I’m well enough but can’t seem to do more to be able to save enough money. I obviously take a lot of medication and blood thinners. My teeth are a major source of problems for me and I’ve noticed more recently a trigger for a little depression due to comments from people due to their appearance.
I’m desperate for any help you can provide.

Will I Have to Pay to Have My Veneer Re-Fitted?

March 11th, 2015
Q.

I have had new veneers fitted after having veneers for 12 years with no problems. However after 2 months, one of my new veneers has fallen off.  I went to my dentist and he put the tooth on again but did advise me it might come off again, and if so the veneer would have to be sent to the lab to be re-etched. The tooth came off the following day and I went back to have it sent to the lab for re-etching. However, I was advised I needed to pay to have the tooth put back on. Do I need to pay again to have it re-fitted?

Is There Any Way I Can Dull My Tooth Colour a Bit?

March 11th, 2015
Q.

I whitened my teeth with 3 weeks of wearing Zoom! in trays from my dentist. It was following Invisalign treatment. I have extremely pale English skin and I feel that I have ‘over-whitened’ my teeth so that the shade does not look natural against my colouring. My teeth were quite yellow before so it’s a huge contrast and I wish I had not whitened them for long and gone for a more natural creamy shade that complements my skin tone better. It’s 4 months since I whitened them and they are still looking very ‘bright’ and too white! I know that the effects of whitening will fade a bit over time but is there anything I can do to give them a more creamy natural shade, or how long will it take for the ‘brightness’ to dull down a bit? A year, 2-5 years? I realise I’m here with a different issue than most people but I do think skin tone is a very important consideration in getting a pleasing natural shade – not just matching to the whites of your eyes. Thanks.

How Can I Improve the Shade of my Veneers?

March 11th, 2015
Q.

Hello there. I have never been happy with my veneers as they were not the shade I was expecting. They are a yellow shade and I cannot improve them. Is there any solution other than replacing them? my veneers have been in place for around twenty years and are in very good condition other than the shade of them. Is there any product that is available to improve the colour or appearance of them? Thank you.

Is There a Less Expensive Alternative for Braces?

March 11th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I had braces two years ago for 6 months. When they took off the mould for the retainer my gums were swollen so it never properly fitted. I went back to the dentist and they sent off another referral for me. I waited 10 months to get an appointment and they said that it is visible that my teeth have moved back but apparently the NHS don’t like offering free orthodontic treatment twice. I know the prices are a lot if I choose to go private, is there a less expensive alternative I could go for?
