Is composite restoration best option for worn teeth?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
My lower front teeth are worn and the dentine is starting to show through. My dentist is proposing to rebuild them (possibly by about 2mm) by using a composite restoration. She also thinks that my teeth could first of all be whitened and the composite coloured to match. I have a buckle filling on three of the teeth. Please, what do you think regarding: (a)Would the fillings have to be re-done to match the new whiter colour? (b)Is the composite strong enough to last any length of time? (c)Is it worthwhile placing veneers in front of the teeth instead of whitening them and then raising the teeth behind the veneer with composite? I would be very interested in your opinion on how to tackle the job. With kind regards .,

What treatment can close up gapped teeth?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
I am 29 years old. I had braces when I was 16 years old, and because I didn’t wear my retainer, it didn’t close the gap permanently. I gap is between my upper two front teeth. Will I just went to see a Invisiline doctor the other day, and he said I need to wear a permanent retainer in the back of my two font teeth, I need the spaces created (he will create them) in my bottom row teeth (because my jaw pops, when I open it, and finally I must wear retainers forever, Is this typical, ie. having spaces created in my bottom teeth so that the upper front teeth will close? My bottom teeth are perfect, I am just worried about having them cut into,

Are dental implants a good choice following gum disease?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
I have been told I will need full upper and lower dental implants (14 in all), all teeth to be extracted due to gum disease and bone infection, with bone grafting and sinus elevation. Once I have had the extractions and the bone grafting operation and temporary dentures fitted does it matter the length of time for the fitting of the dental implants eg if I could not afford to have them done for a further year or so would this matter?,

What should I do now that amalgam filling has fallen out?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
Q.
Hi I had root canal work about 15mths agoon UR4 with an amalgam filling. The fell out a few days ago and my dentist refilled it with glass isonomer but he failed to notice a fracture on the lingual cusp….so now this part is loose. He says all he can do is an extraction followed by a bridge or remove the loose portion and just leave it. I have no pain as the nerve was removed. What would you advise please? Many Thanks,

Can you offer advice on how to treat crooked teeth and jaw problem?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
Q.
Hi, recently I have become more and more self-conscious of my crooked teeth, and I also have a few other problems with my jaw and teeth. I was wondering what can I do? as my dentist (despite visiting regularly) has not sorted or even attempted to provide me with information on what is available or what work needs to be done to put these problems right. These problems are holding me back to an extent, and I believe that if they were put right I would be much more confident.,
