What should I do now that amalgam filling has fallen out?

Q. Hi I had root canal work about 15mths agoon UR4 with an amalgam filling. The fell out a few days ago and my dentist refilled it with glass isonomer but he failed to notice a fracture on the lingual cusp….so now this part is loose. He says all he can do is an extraction followed by a bridge or remove the loose portion and just leave it. I have no pain as the nerve was removed. What would you advise please? Many Thanks,
A. Hi Chris. If the tooth is too broken down to be crowned successfully then I would suggest its removal. A bridge is an option to replace this but implants and now considered the optimal treatment to replace missing teeth as they do not affect adjacent teeth.

My silver filling has fallen out after a month, since it was fixed. My very first filling and my only bad tooth. I could taste and smell a funny taste from my filling. It has fallen out an hour ago and I tasted too much of it i my mouth. I keep spitting and rinsing my mouth to avoid swallowing this bad taste. Now my broken tooth now has a blackened stain where the filling was attached. Am hoping to have a white filling replaced instead as I am afraid of poisoning.

I brushed with a bit of tooth paste . I can still taste the filling from the black stain left on the edge of my broken tooth.
When I had the appointment the doctor told me I needed a bigger filling and that silver fillings lasted longer. I am 31 yrs old and it is my 3rd tooth from the back. So a molar or pre-molar?

She told me she cut my gum to create space for the filling. First after the X-ray, because i had no pain in my gum she said it was a temporarily filling if in case i felt severe pain and my tooth was infected then I would have a tooth canal treatment. Then my tooth was ok . I told her I felt rough edges and that is when she told me we should polish . Otherwise if I never asked she would not have told me. Then it was shinny silver colour.

Secondly, after doing the filling is only when she informed me that now I needed to CROWN it.

Hi, I have a significant chip in one of my front teeth (since childhood) which is repaired via tooth-coloured filling. In the last year alone it has fallen out 5 times and each time is repaired poorly by the NHS dentists. Canyou give me an estimate to how much it would cost to get it fixed professionally

I have recently undergone surgery for a t1 tumour on floor of mouth and amlooking for a dentist to repair teeth where prvious fillings have either fallen out or worn out, also require two implants for teeth previously removed, can you help and how much would this approx cost?

Three months ago I had an implant started to replace an upper molar. For the first month after surgery it was fine, no pain. Then I started getting pain around the implant site which has slowly got worse. Might this be an infection? My dentist said it seems unlikely as it looks and feels fine, but he can’t rule this out and has given me anti-biotics and said to see how it goes. The pain is quite bothersome and I am worried it is infected. Should I get a second opinion/xray from another dentist? Many thanks/

I would suggest a second opinion, if you have lost confidence in your dentist. Hopefully it is nothing but it might be the start of a failing implant.

I would speak to your dentist as it is not acceptable to be left in pain for that length of time!
