What treatment would fix protruding front teeth?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
Q.
hi, im looking for some sort of cosmtic treatment for my teeth but im not sure whats best. my problem is my front two teeth they are moving forward since i was younger and had a retainable brace. they stick out a bit and are bigger than the rest off my teeth. the treatments im thinking about are veeners and tooth shaving but today i have come across the inman aligner. im looking for the best result but understand shaving is open to problems, veeners have to be replaced and im not confident the inman aliner will work and my teeth will move forward again once the treatmwnts over. im looking for a result to either make my two front teeth look smaller and strighter or to have them same size as the rest of my teeth. any advise on what sounds best is much appreciated, thanks.,

My teeth have become crooked now that braces treatment has ended

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
Q.
I’m 22 and when I was younger I had fixed braces and when the treatment was done I was given removable retainers. However, despite using the retainer as instructed, slowly my teeth have moved. The two front teeth in my top set have grown slightly apart (although I still use the top retainer, it closes the gap temporarily) and the bottom are becoming a bit crooked ( the retainer doesn’t even fit anymore) Can these two different problems be solved using Invisalign? If so, what do you recommend being done afterwards in order for them to stay in place?,

Teeth receding into gum

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Glaister – due to childhood neglect and a terrible fear of dentist -i did not visit a dentist (apart from tooth removal) until i was 33. My dentist at that time said my oral hygeine had obviously been excellent, all i needed was 2 fillings. I have continued to visit my dentist regularly and now at the age of 52 – my teeth are “not nice” at the bottom – a small gap is now widening and i cannot align my teeth to smile. I am sure one of my front teeth has “disappeared a bit” into my upper gum!! I don’t have a full set of teeth – probably about 24. What would you suggest to make me “smile” and to save me having sunken gums etc in years to come? I’m terrified of having to have dentures – i want to salvage what i have left. Thank you,

Options to replace moulded teeth?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Glaister. When I was younger i fell over and chipped my right front tooth, this was about 10 years ago and I am 18 going on 19 now. I went to a local NHS dentish and they remoulded the tooth, however they did a terrible job. The tooth isn’t as long as the real one to eht left, it’s thicker in the front and back, and the discolouring in it is so obvious even from a distance, it really makes me concious about my smile. I was wondering what could be done about it, and how much that would cost. Thank you so much,

Is inman aligner best option for me?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr Glaister, My teeth are straight, except for one top lateral incisor which is rotated. I never considered braces, since i only need one tooth corrected. I don’t want a veneer because i don’t want to shave down an otherwise healthy tooth. I recently heard of the Inman aligner and thought I may be a candidate for that, but I notice Simpli5 is a similar price, I’m not sure which is better for me? Also, simpli5 seems to be a similar system to Invisalign but is far cheaper, is there a catch i should know about?,

Should I replace dental crowns?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
I had my two front teeth broken when I was 12 years old and have had porcelain crowns since I was 15. I am now 33. I have an overbite, so my front teeth are noticeable when I smile, I have always been very self-concious about them. I have never liked my crowns, which were done by my local NHS dentist. They are slightly more yellow than my other teeth, which are all white and I do have very good dental hygiene and don’t have any problems with my teeth. I have asked my dentist about implants or new crowns, but they say i don’t need them replaced. I wish they didn’t protrude as much as they do, but am not sure implants are right for me or should I just get veneers or new crowns that are thinner and more white? Thank you,
