Is composite restoration best option for worn teeth?

Q. My lower front teeth are worn and the dentine is starting to show through. My dentist is proposing to rebuild them (possibly by about 2mm) by using a composite restoration. She also thinks that my teeth could first of all be whitened and the composite coloured to match. I have a buckle filling on three of the teeth. Please, what do you think regarding: (a)Would the fillings have to be re-done to match the new whiter colour? (b)Is the composite strong enough to last any length of time? (c)Is it worthwhile placing veneers in front of the teeth instead of whitening them and then raising the teeth behind the veneer with composite? I would be very interested in your opinion on how to tackle the job. With kind regards .,
A. You should be aware that anything man made in your mouth will not whiten, so if you whitnein your teeth, your existing fillings will stay the same.Whatever you place on these teeth has a risk of breakage, veneers or composite. You have ground down the teeth in this space so unless you correct the bite you may well grind down what is used to restore these teeth again.Kind regardsDr Justin Glaisterwww.umbrellasmiles.com
