Can I close the gaps in my teeth?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have a gap in the front of my tooth, What are the ways that this gap can be closed some dentists have suggested having braces and other dentist has said to have veneers but know I dot know what to do. I think that braces might take too long and I dont like the look of metal braces. WHat do most people do to close a gap in a tooh?

Do I have to put up with the gap for the rest of my life or can something be done about it?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Butt I have a gap in my front teeth which has happened over the last three years due to a problem with my gums. I have asked my dentist if he could fill the gap and on the last visit he said he could fill it with bonding. He wouldn’t advise veneers or porcelain as they would be too heavy and may weaken the tooth as the density of the bone had diminished due to the gum disease. I visited him today and he now advises that I dont have the bonding done as he feels the gum is still inflamed. I am really upset as this gap looks ugly. Please can you advise if there is a way round this or do I have to put up with this gap for the rest of my life? I am 58 years of age. Kind regards.

Can I have veneers on my bottom teeth?

Monday, March 29th, 2010
Q.
Hi My two bottom front teeth aren’t straight or next to each other and as such don’t look good. I did look at invisalign but for just this correction it seemed very expensive and took too long! Can I get veneers on bottom teeth? Thanks,

Any recommendations to fix my underbite?

Monday, March 29th, 2010
Q.
hi there I again am very self concious about my underbite. I had 2 surgeries years ago and my jaw relapsed both times. I was thinking of venners for my upper jaw longer then maybe the venners might hit a lower tooth. I did have one cosmetic look very quickly at my mouth and said I have 3 teeth that are crowded in the lower front. He said maybe 3 implants with venners would work be I did not see him again for a cast. I’m 45 now and seeing as what I went through I gave up on my lack of smile. any recomendations,

Thinking about teeth whitening and lumineer treatment, any advice?

Monday, March 29th, 2010
Q.
I am not happy with my smile. I have moderate peridontal disease and have had treatments but now I am on a regime of bi yearly cleanings. My two front teeth are capped. Now with my gums receding the front teeth don’t look right to me. I was thinking of lumineers and teeth whitening so I am more confident with my smile. Is this something that would be beneficial for me. Thank you for your time.

Should I have lava crowns?

Monday, March 29th, 2010
Q.
I had root canal treatment on my front tooth but all the root could not be removed the dentist showed me this on xray. The tooth was discoloured and I had veneers on both front teeth which looked good. The tooth is now discoloured again and the dentist explained that it was the dead root reflecting through and has suggested lava crowns.Could the same happen if I had the lava crowns.,

Crowns or veneers?

Friday, March 26th, 2010
Q.
Hello I have 4 root canals done in the front teeth and one of them turned so dark over 15 years that not the dentist put a pin inside the canal and completely removed the tooth. I think he used the white filling to create a fake tooth for the time being. I am facing a dilemma now. From experience I know the other 3 teeth will turn dark too. I need to look at my options. Crowns or veneers. I would hate to invest the money into veneers if the dark colour will be visible from underneath? Do you think crowns will be better for me? especially because the teeth are in the front I would really love to finally have a smile I always dreamed of and not a horror story and empty wallet with dark teeth. Please help me I am not concerned about my teeth being grinded down. I just want white beautiful teeth that will last for many many years,

What are the optiond for me keeping my teeth looking white and real?

Friday, March 26th, 2010
Q.
I had an accident when I was a teenager and after 23 one of my front teeth started to turn grey. I ended up getting both my top front teeth root canals and bleached from the inside. It’s been about 5 years since I’ve had that done and one tooth is starting to look lightly grey again. I don’t have crowns and I find my dentists aren’t clear on my options and the risks. I want to keep my teeth looking white and real, is this realistic? What are my options!?,

I am in constant pain because of my ruccuring abcesses, please help!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Q.
I have to have my lower molar out as it has collapsed and I keep getting recurrent abcesses, however I have a bridge connected from the molar to the middle lower front tooth! If I have the molar removed, I will lose my bridge and will end up with half a mouthful of teeth! I am currently in constant pain and am living on antibiotics and painkillers as I cannot live with half a mouthful of teeth! My dentist will not give me a full denture, but says I cannot have half a lower denture! Please advise as I am in constant pain!,
