my mouth is in very bad state my teeth at the back are rotten what are my best option

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Im a 19 year old who is petrified of going to the dentist. the last time i went was in 2003. My mouth is in a pretty bad state, two of my teeth at the back are rotten(beyond repair in my opinion) some of my lower back teeth need fillings and im pretty sure i need a root canal as i am in pain. I am too embarrassed to speak to my parents about this and with limited funds. Finally, i would like to be sedated as much as i can as just the thought of the dentist starts to make me panic. what are the best options open to me?

I have pain in the tooth would the pain be caused by invasion? is any chance i can have implants?

Saturday, May 30th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Moore I have a crown(fixed bridge) on 22,23,24,25,26,27. The dentist told me this was the best solution since I have partial dentures attached at 22 and 27. Is this true? 22 is hurting, it had root canal done, the dentist who did it says everything is ok with the root canal and I have invasion of the biological width and I need gum grafting. Could the pain which started after the crown was fixed be caused by this invasion? If I am 56 and have osteoporosis is any chance I can have implants ? Thank you very much.

should i be worried about the small area of filling which has been replaced by another dentist

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
Q.
Hello: I have a filling in one on my back teeth, a month ago a small part of that filling fell out as i didn’t feel pain i didn’t book an appointment with the dentists. for tree days I was in pain so I decided to see a dentists. She told me that there’s not decay or another cavity in that area, so she just replaced the small area which fell out. I’m quite concerned as I’m not sure if It had been better to have the whole filling removed, and because of that I could have something bad in my tooth. The thing is but the moment I’m living in another country I’m i’ll see my dentist in four weeks. Should I be worried? My teeth are in really good condition as I see my dentist at least twice a year. Thanks

My teeth has been removed and now i had a awful infection should i go ahead with implants

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Moore, I had two lower back teeth removed with a bone graft on both. My dentist gave me antibiotics but as soon as they were finished I had the most awful infection, my face was badly swollen and I was in terrible pain until the end of the second round of antibiotics. Is it possible for you to tell me if I would be at higher risk of infection when (and if) I go ahead with the two implants. I am terrified of getting more infection. I am 60 years old. Many thanks. PS. both extracted teeth were quite badly diseased and decayed.

It has been 2 days after finishing the RCT and i still have continuous tooth ache is this normal?

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Dear Rob Tennet, I had cavity in one of my upper jaw tooth and just did my RCT. i had three visits in total for this treatment. During the first visit, dentist removed and cleaned my tooth with different tools and temporary filled it, i still had toothache after it. During the 2nd visit, the dentist still found infection and again used the tools to clean the infection, after that my toothache was almost finished. In the last visit, the dentist did permanent filling and before that did various long procedures to finally end it. From that day onwards i am having continuous tooth ache and cannot touch that teeth normally which i use to do before. Hence its 2nd day after finishing the RCT. Is this normal? I can easily drink HOT and COLD Stuff but cannot chew and bite easily. I have started taken Ponstan. Please advice if its abnormal. i am tensed as i think the dentist is on vacation these days.

i have abscess with excruciating pain in my teeth and i dont want the tooth removed advice please

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
An old amalgam filling on a back molar was becoming uncomfortable, my dentist suggested an “inlay” without doing an x ray first. An imprint was taken and a temporary filling installed. During the week I had toothache and said so when I returned for the ‘inlay’. She said at the time “it may need a root canal but we’ll see how it goes” so the inlay was installed. 2 days later I had an abscess with excruciating pain, and am now on antibiotics and painkillers. This is the 2nd day of taking the antibiotics and the pain is still there but not as bad, although my face is very swollen. My dentist said she would now either have to remove the tooth or do a root canal. What should I do, I don’t really want the tooth removed but there is not much tooth left as it was heavily filled and I have just paid £200 for the inlay. Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks
