Could you advise a teeth whitening procedure that would be safe?

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
Q.
I am interested in having my teeth whitened, I have heard that it is not good for the teeth and weakens the enamel, could you advise a procedure that would be safe, painless and gentle to my teeth and also look natural but not too white.

What is the procedure to fix my discoloured white filling?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Q.
When I was younger I chipped my tooth so went to my local dentist and they gave me a white filling that was fine until recently when it became discoloured. What is the procedure for fixing this problem? Will the old filling need to be removed and replaced or can this old filling be whitened? I know you will have to treat each case individually but what is the usual procedure? I am currently 16 and have had this filling for about 7 years.

My daughter front tooth is grey in colour what do you recommend

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Q.
I have two questions I would like you to answer if you would be kind enough. 1 – When my 15 year old daughter had her fixed retainers removed last month, it became apparent that one of her front teeth was dark grey. It was the same colour as all her other teeth before orthodontic treatment. During treatment, following tightening of the retainers, she often had pain for a few days and also experienced bleeding in that area. As she has never fallen or hit that tooth, could it be the orthodontic treatment itself that caused this problem? 2 – The orthodontist referred her to our dentist who tested the tooth and says it is alive. She recommended tooth whitening (smile-x) on just that one tooth. Since the tooth is not stained, I don’t see how this will help. Surely, it will just make it look a lighter grey? The dentist said she will have to do this treatment every two months for the rest of her life, which is quite a commitment. I do not want her to have veneers. What would you recommend? Thank you for your time.

What is the cost of teeth whitening?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi i am now 18 and have been unhappy with my teeth for a long time. they are not the colour i want and i feel my front 2 teeth at the top are too big. i dont know alot about teeth veneers or other options in order to get the perfect smile i am after. I want the best result i can but i am still in full time education so am looking for a cheapest option. what would you suggest. i also want them to last a good few years and not do any permanent damage to my teeth. If you could include costs that would be great.

I was wondering if you could help, I have a gap between my front two teeth and am looking to get this closed. I’m also looking to get my teeth whitened but have no idea where to look or how much it would cost? There appear to be many places that offer treatment but How do I know they can be trusted? Many Thanks

How often to bleach teeth

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
I’m currently whitening my teeth at home with a custom set of trays made at my local dentist’s office. I’m using Optident 20% carbamide peroxide gel (2 hrs per session). After two nights in a row my teeth feel somewhat sensitive and on the third night during whitening I have experiences a couple of mildly painful ‘zingers’. So far I’ve been leaving the treatment a couple of days and then repeating. However, I feel that to get some real results I need to continue the treatment each night for a couple of weeks – which I’m sure will make my teeth more sensitive as I go. Is there any danger in feeling zingers and general sensitivity, and is there more merit in the treatments being done daily rather than spread out over a longer period of time? Many thanks for reading my question and any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Q.
My grandson has not grown, he is 12 years of age and still has almost all his milk teeth. He has breathing difficulties and there is little evidence of his adult teeth in his jaw – what treatment should he have, he lives iin Italy and opinions are severely divided as to the treatment necessary.

How to repair crooked teeth without extracting them?

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi i’ve had crooked teeth for a long time. When i was a teenager my parents couldn’t afford to get me braces, back then i didnt mind the way my teeth were i guess because i was so young i didnt care, but now i do not like smiling because my left front tooth sticks out ( i have an overjet) and its really unattractive. i am 21 years old now and i want to get them fixed but in a way scared because 3 years ago i went to an orthodontist and he told me i need 4 teeth extracted because i have severe crowding, over jet, and an over bite. i was actually hoping i would be a candidate for invislign but i wasnt. so here i am 3 years later and i want to get them fixed so bad. i just do not want to get teeth extracted. Now my question is when that orthodoctist said all that to me 3 years ago. Do you think i can be able to fix my teeth with out getting any teeth pulled out? and i just read about the 6 month smile, do you think i will be a candidate for that?.
