Does tooth whitening overcome discolouration?

Q. Hi, one of my front tooth has developed a yellowish grey color (after having a filling due to decay many years ago) and is very visible. will having my teeth whitened help?

A.

The discolouration has happened inside of the tooth and so whitening the outside of the tooth will not help. Ask your dentist about possibly whitening the inside of the tooth and if you have no luck with this, the next nest would be a porcelain veneer.
