Can I have composite veneers replace to improve teeth colour?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, Im an 18 year female and I suffer from a genetic condition with my teeth which meant my enamel didnt develop properly, as a child this meant I had quite heaily stained teeth which I found really hard to deal with. At the age of 14, I was sent to London by my dentist to a childrens dentist to have composite veneers fitted. In a way this helped and I gained some confidence back in my smile but 4 years later Im still really unhappy. I dont want a hollywood glistening smile but I do want white teeth and that hasnt been achieved with these composite veneers. Is it possible to have these veneers removed and replaced with whiter ones? or would I need to pay to have porcelain veneers done privately? Im just worried that it will cost so much, and Im so worried my composite veneers will fall off. Ive never told people about the genetic condition Ive had, but Im constantly worried people are looking at my teeth. I just want a white smile, so what sort of route will I need to take to achieve this? Thankyou for any help or advice you can give me.,

What treatment can I have for stained teeth?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr. Glaister, I wonder if you can advise me on the most effective treatment for my teeth. All of my front teeth are totally stained brown on the inward facing side of the teeth. I presume this is caused by smoking (which i have now given up)in the main and by the fact that my teeth have never been cleaned by a dentist. It would be great if you could advise me. Thankyou,

Is there an effective treatment for tetracycline staining?

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010
Q.
Is there an effective treatment for tetracycline staining that (i) doesn’t involve cutting into my otherwise healthy teeth, and (ii) won’t cause gum disease? My dentist made me a mould and provided two weeks’ worth of bleach but there was no discernible improvement. Thank you for your advice.,

Is it safe to use stannous fluoride rinse?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr. Moore, I was hoping you could answer a question for me. In your opinion is it safe to use a .1% stannous fluoride rinse on porcelain crowns and composite fillings? I was recently sold some stannous fluoride by my dentist, but have since seen information on the internet that says it is not advised for porcelain restorations. Thank you!,

Any disadvantages of six month smile over traditional braces?

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 41 years of age and have been to a couple of people to help me straighten my teeth. 1st was an orthodontsist who has offered to fit traditional braces (tooth coloured upper, and steel lower) which should take approx. 12 months. 2nd was a dentist who has took on the 6 month smile method (which would be tooth coloured upper and lower). Is there any disadvantages of the 6 month smile method against the traditional, and how would I be able to find out if the dentist is suitably qualified?

HI! Im interested in getting my teeth straightened, but im not sure how to go about it. My teeth are pretty straight, except for my two top front teeth which go up abit like this / (but dont actually overlap each other). What would be the best form of treatment? Should I see my dentist first? Hope you can help.
