I am 36 and not been to the dentist since i was 13 and had a bad experience over the last 16 years i have really needed to go but been in a controlling relationship and wasnt able to go even if i wanted to luckily he was sent to prison for 6 years just over a year ago now. Since then although i have a really bad phobia i have had to try and force myself to take my 2 kids to a dentist as my phobia and inability to go has caused them needing dental work.Although i have actually managed to walk through the door it is a very uncomfortable feeling and i can not be in the room when they have work done i am just glad my 2 teenagers are braver than me its them seeing if im ok on the way home instead of me being there for them . I need to try and get myself to a dentist but all the ones i come across have just made it even harder for me to see someone.They dont know my history so assume it is just a case of cant be bothered .I know i need all my teeth out as the ones that are left are stumps or rotten and after being basicaly locked in a house fo the last 10 years i also have problems with agrephobia where i find it difficult to actually walk out the house it doesnt make things any easier when i have visable rotten and missing teeth when i talk.I have tried emailing a few places in my local area but to be refered to anywhere that treats phobias and does this sort of work under sedation i am told i will need to be refered by a dentist..if i could find a dentist i was happy with and who understood my fears then i wouldnt be in this situation. I dont know if you work with nhs patients but if you do i would really appreciate some useful advice before i end up a total recluse.

I have a really big fear of the dentist, this fear has meant I haven’t been since I was abour 10, I am now 22 and my teeth are really bad, They are crooked at the front and are uneven throughout my mouth. I got hit in the mouth a year and a half ago on the left side of my jaw, I was in severe pain and could not open my mouth and felt that my bottom left back tooth had been knocked out of place, this tooth is now rotting away and cracked badly, the pain is so bad I am taking 24 nurofen a day just to ease the pain abit. The top tooth where I got hit has also started to crack, I can not afford a dentist though and I recieve no benefits. I am hoping to get married next year and I want the confidence to be able to smile in my pictures instead of “Pouting” all the time, please help me, what can I do?,

I’m really needing some advice, well here it goes, I’m 23 and my teeth are rotten away, ive had a phobia of the dentist since i was little, ive not been in about 5 years and basically all my top teeth at the back are rotted away, there is nothing really left of them and its driving me crazy, basically all my bottom teeth are perfect. my 2 front teeth(at the top) have a gap in the middle from rotten away too, so i have 6 teeth left at the front top and the middle are rotten, what can i do? and what will a dentist do? will i lose all my teeth? any reply or help i will be greatfull. could you let me know what can be done and how many appointments it will take, im going to make myself go but i just need to know what will happen, will i have to look like an idiot for the rest of my life?,

hi i wantd to knw im 18 iv got a few holes in ma teeth at d bak nt ryt at d bak d second last ones n dey pain so much.i am too scared to see the dentist and i hate injections i have a massive hole in one ov myt teeth its so big u cnt imagine can u advise me wat to do.i have toothache 24 7 n i cnt tke it any more,

am just wondering how effective sedation is? i am very scared of the dentist but after having terrible toothache for a week i had no choice but to go he told me the tooth needed taking out and i calmed myself enough for him to inject the gum and loosen the tooth then after 5 attempts of removing the tooth told me he could not do it i was sent home in agony and shock now i know i cant try this again without sedation..or could i even be put to sleep?,

Hello, Well first of all I am a complete dental phobic !! But now I have I know got to get to my GP as my teeth are awful. I am so scared that I will have to have all my teeth out. And in Hospital.All my back teeth on both sides are awful on left and right, leaving bottom and top ones.in otherwords finding food very awkward to eat unless soft foods. But is it at all possible to get dentures on the NHS ? So I can eat? I am a total wreck, going through a bad time, fearful also bad hormones etc. Regards. Ps I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.,

I would like to be sedated during my dentistry work using IV (Intravenous) Sedation, I need fillings and maybe an extraction. I also have 3 wisdom teeth. This causes me alot of pain, but i have had a bad experience with a dentist, which has made me petrefied! I have been in ain on and off for 4 years now. Will a dentist carry this work out under sedation and can anybody be recommended in the Manchester area? Thank you,

Good morning Dr Solanki, I have recently lost a couple of teeth due to, I’m unhappy to say, poor care and lack of regular dental appointments. Truth is, the thought of going to the dentist petrifies me. When I’m in the “Reclining chair of pain” which I like to call it, I shake uncontrollably and as much as the shades I’m given make me want to believe I’m on a beach, there’s still a man poking around in my mouth that I’m not 100% at ease with. Due to the loss of these teeth, I have strongly considered cosmetic surgery and having dental implants put in to replace them. I have read the implants page of the website and the information is seems sound, especially that I can be put under if I’m extremely anxious. I was wondering however, what the proposed cost might be to replace these three teeth, being a lower left molar, lower right bicuspid and lower right molar. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time,
