I have known for a while I will need braces

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008
Q.
Hello, I am 17 years old, and I have known for a while I will need braces. i go to an NHS orthodontist and have a removable brace. However, I have been told I need to have four teeth out. This is a big problem for me because I am terrified of needles and having the teeth pulled out. I have tried to have the teeth pulled out four times, twice under sedation. I would like to know if there any braces which I could have which would not need any teeth pulling out, as I would love to have straight teeth. Thank You.

hi hows it going ive really got a phobia about going to a dentist

Thursday, November 13th, 2008
Q.
Hi hows it going ive really got a phobia about going to a dentist which has led to me neglecting my teeth so my front teeth have some tartar stains on the 2 front teeth and on one of my fangs and a few cavitys on my front and back teeth and one of my front tooth has crackec completely in half and is hanging on by the front surface of the enamel even tho there isnt much of that left.I got an appointment to see my new nhs dentist in a few weeks times and ive been reading up about what procedures they would use for this kind of treatment and it says the composite filling will match my natural teeth color and that is what has kind of confused me as i have abit of tartar stains and my 2 front teeth have discolored quite a bit to a light brown (due to i drink a lot of teas) and i was wondering if the composite filling would match the tea stained teeth or the colour of my teeth before they became discolored and stained or is there another procedure they do to restore a brighter whiter smile and by the way im going for free nhs dental treatment. thanks alot cant wait for your reply

Unfortunately I had a fall in August and knocked my front teeth

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Q.
Unfortunately I had a fall in August and knocked my front teeth. The tooth to my right of my front teeth is a crown fitted to a post and my dentist says I have fractured a nerve here. Consequently I have had an abcess and severe pain since early September. The tooth needs to be extracted. My dentist has referred me to an implant specialist but I am a dental phobic – and because I am already in pain I am frightened of the drilling involved with the implant. The alternatives ie. bridges, dentures etc, although cheaper, all seem to have their problems. Can you advise me? As the tooth is so important to my smile etc (I am 53 years old)

Hi I am a 42yr old woman with a a really bad phobia of dentist

Thursday, November 6th, 2008
Q.
Hi I am a 42yr old woman with a a really bad phobia of dentist due to a painful root canal filling and an aggressive dentist when I was 15 years old. Over the years I have had the odd treatment only when necessary to stop the teeth falling out. I lost my two front teeth about 8 years ago and had new ones fitted on pallet, two years ago I had to have all my teeth extracted on the top to have a full denture fitted with again the aide off sedation, as this is not available on the NHS it has been very costly. my problem now is my bottom teeth are now getting to the point where I think I may need dentures on the bottom also, I have the two bottom teeth very very loose but the others are still in good health I think (not loose) my question to you would be could it be possible to save the other teeth on the bottom and maybe fill in the missing two other than a set of dentures. If so who can I contact that is sympathetic to my phobia. Which is so bad I can’t even sit in the chair without having a panic attack.
