The dentist told me that sealant in one the molar came off can a cavity develop that quickly?

Friday, July 10th, 2009
Q.
I took my 9 yr old daughter for exam and cleaning last week to my dentist. After the cleaning, the dentist told me that the sealant in one of her molars came off and there were 2 stain pits. She said next time we come back, she would need to open up the tooth to see if it needs filling. My daughter was previously seeing a pediatric dentist and had cleaning done 5 months ago and at that time, her sealants were still all intact. Can a cavity develop that quickly? I am afraid of having the tooth drilled and opened if there is no cavity. I have been taking good care of my daughter’s teeth so I am not sure how she got the stain pits. Do we have another option for treatment?

My daughter needs her veneers to be redone under IV sedation can you recommend any one?

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Bohara, I am writing on behalf of my adult daughter. She cannot go to the dentist unless she has IV sedation. She has recently moved to the Nottingham area and wants to have her veneers which are about ten years old redone. She also needs some emmergency fillings and is having pain. Could you pass on the name of a dentist in the Nottingham area where she could have IV sedation by a properely qualified dental practioner. Thank you,

I am having dental implants fitted in my lower jaw and i am worried what is your opinion

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
Q.
I am having 2 implants fitted in my lower jaw-5&7 I think- in August. I had the old teeth/stumps extracted in April that supported a bridge which was continously coming off and my new dentist has recommended implants as my best option.I am very happy with my new dentist but find I am getting increasingly anxious about the actual implant procedure as he has booked me in for 3 hours to do this.I have asked if I can have sedation but he doesnt have these facilities at his clinic, so have opted for taking temazepam prior to the procedure. The last time I took this at the extraction process(one tablet half an hour before the procedure) the dentist was delayed several hours but I did feel less anxious but the treatment only took half an hour. I am worried that I can tolerate being conscious for three hours sitting in the dentist chair and in particular when he drills into the bones what sensation will I feel? Obviously he will give me several local injections to numb the pain but I wondered if I could take 2 temazepam or would this completely knock me out? I have also considered hypnotherapy beforehand would this be of help or a waist of money? I would welcome your opinion. With thanks. PS I am 55 and in general good health.

My friend has a severe phobia of needles is there anyone who will use gas these days for sedation

Friday, June 19th, 2009
Q.
HI, my friend has a serious problem with her teeth, she has been told she needs 10 teeth extracted. She is a private patient and has a severe phobia of needles. Her dentist has referred her to specialists because she won’t have a needle for sedation. She has been told that no-one in the UK will use gas to put her to sleep so that a needle can then be used. She has now been told to go for hypnotherapy to cure her fear of needles. Is there anyone who will use gas these days? She is desperate, she has trouble eating and now even drinking. Thanks

Dear sir is it possible to be asleep before the start of dental treatment,i am an extreem phobic due to many bad experiences in my child hood and teens,i have been unable to see a dentist in over 20 years i have visited over the years all of the dentists in my area but have been unable to stay for the appointment through sheer fear.i have a front tooth missing through an accident at work and various chips and would love to get veneers and get my teeth sorted out as it is so embarrasing, and i am so self concious about smiling, if i could be put to sleep i am sure i could go through with the surgery

i have a crumbled and overlapping teeth can all this be done at a time under general anesthetic

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have not been to a dentist for about 8 years as I have emetophobia (a phobia of being sick) and used to have anorexia and was worried that any treatment I had would make me sick. My teeth do need a lot of work now, four of them have ‘crumbled’ away due to very poor diet, and the front two teeth overlap. Because of my phobia I would prefer to be put under a general anesthetic and have all the work done at the same time. So my question is; is it possible to have all this done at the same time under a general anesthetic? and also is it possible to fix my two front teeth during that or would I have to have a brace? (I am very reluctant to have one as I am in my mid-20’s and would be very self-concious of a brace). Thanks.
