I am now expereincing severe pain and I feel some heaviness on my whole right face, I am taking Novaclox since yersterday and really I am very worried, I am afraid he did something which might cause me septicemia. I am going to see another dentist on minday. Thanks for answering.

How long does a bridge last and how strong are they?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009
Q.
I have trigeminal neuralgia and I have not been to a dentist in two and a half years because of this. I use to go to the dentist every six months. I now need a root canal on the same side of my trigeminal neuralgia top left. Also I made need another root canal and a crown done to the tooth next to it. I also need a new partical plate, cleaning, and other crowns. I am very anxious about having work done on my mouth. I was also told that I could have a bridge instead of a new partical plate. The bridge would be on tooth 6,7,8,3 are the missing teeth and on my partical now. If they do a bridge it would have to be connected with crowns on teeth 9,10,4,5,. the root canal is on tooth 13 which already has a crown. I am now on a anti-botic for the infection of that tooth. What is better for me to have a bridge or another partical? how long does a bridge last and how strong are they? What should I get done first? I am fearful because of my Trigeminal Neuralgia and I also have TMJ. Thank you for any information you can give me.

i had root canal work on my tooth but the pain persists plz advice?

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Moore 6 months ago I had root canal work on my tooth, having been told that there was some decay and I would lose the tooth if I did not have it. It was a terrible ordeal for me as I am a very nervous patient anyway and the dentist clamped my face to my jaw with a metal clamp which I found unacceptable and was unable to tolerate. It took 3 hours and cost over £600. A few days ago I started to have an unremitting pain in my mouth, gums and cheek which seem to be encompassing the area where I had the root canal work. I fear from all the information I have been able to glean that I have an abscess and may have to lose the tooth. I have been to see my GP who doesn’t know what is causing the pain but has given me antibiotics and told me to see my dentist for ex-rays. I have an appointment on Tuesday but don’t see any point in having the ex-rays until the antibiotics have cleared up the infection. I will not go back to the dentist who did the root canal treatment (a specialist in root canal work and not my usual dentist) as I am absolutely terrified of him. The way he pulled and clamped my face showed complete inconsideration for a woman’s feelings and when I finally emerged from the dentist after 3 hours I was inconsolable from the ordeal that I had tolerated. If I do lose my tooth I will definitely want to have an implant. I am now on my 3rd day of taking antibiotics and as of yet the pain I am suffering is just as bad as on day one so I am not sure if they are working or not. Please would you kindly advise me of my options regarding treatment and what you see as the likely outcome. Kind regards,

Is bad odor from the mouth caused by infection or something else?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I had a root canal about 4 years ago. Starting about 6 months ago I couldn’t eat on that side of my mouth due to pain when biting down. I also have a small knot next to the tooth. In the past two weeks there is a very noxious odor coming from the tooth. Is this caused by an infection or something else? I’m just a little unsure where to go from here.

Do we have any sensation on the dead teeth?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I had 2 crowns at the back upper side replaced and one new one (so they are 3 in a row) and root canal prior to this.. I also had root canal on the other side of my back upper side and these teeth were then filled (2 of them). that was about a month ago and when I bite both sides of these teeth are in such pain that I avoid chewing at all! I Also the teeth that have had root canal are sensitive to cold…I thought if your teeth are dead you can’t feel anything??

Can u gimme some advice on veneer replacements?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan Just to say thanks very much for kindly replying to my question about my worries about possibly unsecure veneers, and putting my mind at ease. Could I just ask you for your expertise on this q, as these veneers I am referring to are uneven, my dentist has offered to replace one of the central ones for me in order to make it match the other side (as it was in temps!) to make things look more even and symmetrical. In your experience, is replacing one central veneer ok in terms of aesthetics or is it a bit too risky in terms of an exact colour match etc? Im wondering if I would be best perhaps asking for the central 2 to be replaced together.. just want to get the right treatment. Thanks so much

How can i get root canal treatment for cheap?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
Hello, i would like to ask about how i can get 2 root canals done on the NHS my previous dentist didnt do anything. He put a gold inlay in one of the teeth which i believe really needed a root canal and in the end i got an absess. I am a single mother of two children so where can i get these two teeth root canaled as i cannot afford the private fees and i would not be accepted for any loan, i am only 21 and the teeth are in my smile line so i wouldnt want to lose these teeth. Any advise much appreciated.
