How long does a bridge last and how strong are they?

Q. I have trigeminal neuralgia and I have not been to a dentist in two and a half years because of this. I use to go to the dentist every six months. I now need a root canal on the same side of my trigeminal neuralgia top left. Also I made need another root canal and a crown done to the tooth next to it. I also need a new partical plate, cleaning, and other crowns. I am very anxious about having work done on my mouth. I was also told that I could have a bridge instead of a new partical plate. The bridge would be on tooth 6,7,8,3 are the missing teeth and on my partical now. If they do a bridge it would have to be connected with crowns on teeth 9,10,4,5,. the root canal is on tooth 13 which already has a crown. I am now on a anti-botic for the infection of that tooth. What is better for me to have a bridge or another partical? how long does a bridge last and how strong are they? What should I get done first? I am fearful because of my Trigeminal Neuralgia and I also have TMJ. Thank you for any information you can give me.

A. Once it is properley supported the more teeth that are connected to the bridge the shorter its working life will tend to be. root filled teeth are also one of he weaker bridge supports. the rest would have to assessed on an individual basis. we offer a free initial assesment at our birmingham city centre dental practice call 01216430610 for details Rob
