Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Hi, i had an accident when i was younger. My tooth front teeth were damaged one died about 5 years ago and i had root canal. The other has now died and the previous root canal has failed my dentist has advised me that the success of the root canal again is slim but apart from that i dont have many options. How much would it be to get Veeneers i think this was the option i was given. How much at your clinic? Thanks,

Has putting more cotton in tooth made infection worse?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
i had a root canal done a long time ago. It later became infected and had to be cleaned out. The dentist put some cotton in the tooth. It is infected again and i’m on ABT’s. The cotton filling just came out. I replaced it with more cotton. i figured that would be better than nothing. Did i make it worse?,

Is level of pain normal after root canal treatment?

Monday, January 25th, 2010
Q.
I had route canal treatment on a broken toothe on 21/01/10 at 11am (There was no pain in the tooth prior to treatment). The procedure took 1hr. The morning of the 21/01/10 I awoke in very bad pain (7/10) and returned to the dentist 12.20pm. The dentist removed the top layer of temporary filling advising it must be rubbing the other teeth and causing the discomfort. The pain got gradually worse through the day and I went to bed at 8pm as the pain was so bad. I awoke at 11pm in extreme pain (9.9/10). I have taken 3 X ibruprofen and 2 X paracetamol. These have reduced the pain to a manageable level. Can this be normal? I never exaggerate pain and normally have a good threshold Thanks,

Will I have a crown after root canal treatment?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Q.
I am 17 years old, and today had the first treatment of a root canal. All I was wanting to ask you, is will I have a crown afterwards? Also, I will admit, my dental hygiene is not the best in the world! I have 2 filling, the same tooth on either side of the mouth, however it is only the left hand side that requires a root canal, why is this?,

Will root canal treatment be necessary?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
Q.
I’m 33 yrs male living in India. I’ve a bad toothless smile due to deep bite. I’ve no functional problems but my upper teeth are not revealed while smiling which makes me look toothless like a geriatric. I visited a dentist (he’s an endodontist and not a cosmetic dentist) & he has ruled out orthodontics without jaw surgery. But he has suggested crowning 8 of my upper front teeth (including incisors and canines). But he insists on root canaling them since most of the tooth structure would be removed in order to bring about the cosmetic effect. I had a second opinion & this dentist says that root canaling perfectly healthy teeth is a bad idea since root canaled teeth will eventually have to be extracted after 10-15 years. He says that I can have crowns without root canal. The first dentist says that properly done root canals can last a lifetime and in case of any problems later on, root canals can always be redone. He has promised 60-70% of the cosmetic effect that I expect. Now what I’d like to know is: 1. Will crowning bring about the desired cosmetic effect? 2. Will root canaled teeth have to be eventually extracted? 3. Will root canals be redone through the crowns or by removing the crowns and putting them back? 4. After crowns, will I lose any functionality? I badly want to improve my smile which is a great setback in my career and social functioning. Please advise. Thanks and sorry for the lengthy description.,

Dentist does not sympathise with my pain

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
i been having a great deal of pain from my teeth on the right side,i went to my dentist today and told him how much pain im in and that i have also got swelling on that side, and also i was put on antibiotics by an emergency dentist as he said i had an infection in one of my teeth.i’ve been on the tablets for 5 days and still in pain, so my dentist got rid of all the decay in the bad tooth and put this stuff in to temporary fill it, i have to go back in 3 weeks to have the tooth shaved down and he said to put a gold filling in, problem is im still in a great deal of pain, alot of swelling still, and he says he don’t think i have an abcess. im an extreamly nervous patient, and he isn’t very understanding, he almost reduced me to tears today cos he thought i was being awkward, when all i was trying to tell him was that last time i went to him when i got home i had a panic attack cos the novacaine took 6 hours to wear off. im in so much pain, im worried there is something else going on that he’s not seeing. i also suffer from TMJ which don’t help my visits to the dentist.,

Tooth looks grey

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Okay so first of all I had a filling replaced on my front tooth, then I noticed it was really hard to floss because the filling was bulkier than before and I felt constant pressure. So I returned to the dentist and he said I needed a root canal, and we did a root canal. during this whole process my tooth has moved back slightly, which he was not too concerned with, but today :’( I just noticed it’s slightly grey. I am in my early thirties and getting married in June, I cannot have a grey tooth!!!!!! Is it possible the dentist is at fault….it was only after he worked on it that it shifted and is now turning grey. What are my options for fixing?,
