I’m dreading the extraction because I have low clotting factor IX, any advice?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Moore, I have had root canal treatment about 15 years ago. In the last few years, I have had a few re-fillings on this tooth (not canal again). Now all the filling has come out and following an abscess/infection, the little bit of tooth that was there, had to be removed to avoid pain when eating. The dentist here in Cyprus advised me to have the root removed. The problem now is that I am told I have to remove what is left (the root), and as I have low clotting factor iX, I dread having this extraction. Is there anything I can do to avoid exraction, as I have had such bad bleeding problems with teeth extracting inthe past. This is a nightmare for me. Especially now that I am in Cyprus for a few months. Please can you advise? Thank you.,

Surgery is the last option for me, how can I fix my front tooth?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have a pretty complicated issue with one of my front tooths (I believe 11) which has gone through root cancal a long time ago. It started hurting 5 months ago and when I went to the dentist to have it checked, I was told that I have to do an apicoectomy since he and another dentist could not find the canal. The entire canal has been sealed with a composite / filling exactly the same color as my tooth. He tried to drill half way but I started feeling some pain. He said he doesn’t want to take the risk since he might puncture the canal wall. Any suggestions as to what would be my best recourse? I was hoping surgery to be the last option. Thank u.,

i have a dead front tooth, it is very discoloured, i had a brace when i was young but didn’t wear the retainer properly, so my front teeth are wonky again, i want another brace and also want internal bleeching, my dentist has reffered my to a root canal specialist for the whitening, but says i cannot have a brace as it may cause me to loose my dead tooth, but i cant live with it any more, i hate it, what can i do??,

Is it best to leave having a treatment if I am currently not feeling any pain?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
I had root canal treatment over 10 years ago and discovered quite sometime later, when I had an abcess, that I had a broken file in my tooth canal. I was advised to have an apecectomy but decided not to have this done whilst I was experiencing no pain. I recently had a slight tingling sensation and was worried that this was going to get worse so went to my dentist, he took an x ray and said I had a cyst at the end of the broken file and has now suggested that I see a specialist and have it removed but after reading lots of information about this procedure and that it is not always successful I am worried, if I am not experiencing any further pain or discomfort am I better off not having this treatment carried out. I am due to go away to Australia within the next couple of months and would like your advice as to whether I need this done and if so would it do any harm to leave it until after my trip. I am at present awaiting an appointment for a referral from my present dentist. many thanks,,

Q.
hi andrew, i had root canal treatment and and crown replacement which has led to what was described as a facial nerve being danaged over 7 months ago a consultant along with another dentist has indicated that either part of the root canal treatment has been left inserted in my gum or its part of an instrument as yet they are not quite sure but may require micro surgery to remove in addition to this during a treatment session the wrong crown was pulled from my upper front left side casing trauma and severe facial sewlling to date this swelling is still evident and severe pain is constant as a result of poor treatment. can you advise. thanks,

Why does my fibre glass post and crown keep coming loose?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr. Moore, I have had root canal treatment on one of my front teeth, which was restored with a fibre glass post and ceramic crown. This is the second restoration and unfortunately it keeps coming loose just like the first. I have considered an implant as a last resort but really would prefer not to have what is left of the tooth extracted if I can possibly avoid it. What my own dentist seems unable to tell me is if there is an alternative post arrangment (something like you would use during an implant procedure) instead of the smooth one I have which refuses to stay in place? I must add that this has been an onging problem for the last 10 years! I have good dental health otherwise and my gums are healthy. Thank you for your advice.,

Denist drilled through bridge to treat infection. Is this correct method of root canal treatment?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010
Q.
hello, this is about my husband, about month ago started , pain and infection under one of his teeth that has bridge on it. his dentist drilled his bridge and filled it again through it. when my husband said to him about drilling he said this is a general practice which we have been told other wise …now question is : 1- is this the right way to deal with this matter or the bridge must have been removed before drilling into the infected tooth?,
