I wonder if Invisalign is suitable for me or not?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m adult and I have some awkward teething. I didn’t have it when I was a child but I guessed it became apparent case when I got older like last few years. My teething seems straight but my bottom teething row seems to be a bit forward than my top teething row. It is as if my jaw got dislocated a bit forward somehow! It caused me some difficulties in eating food like i couldn’t bite some food properly. I heard there was a solution which involved a jaw surgical (to take a bit of my jaw bone off so my jaw would be a bit smaller). I thought that was extreme. I wonder if Invisalign is suitable for this case, or not? (If not, what are other suitable options then?) Long question but many thanks for your kind helps!

Is there a possibility for the gums to disintegrate due to cross bite?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
Q.
Hi there. I’m a 31 year old woman and I’ve recently changed dental practice. My new dentist suggested invisalign for my cross bite and overbite. I am interested in the procedure because as I’m getting older my teeth have become more crooked due to wisdom teeth coming through etc. One of the main reasons my dentist suggested the procedure is that some of my teeth don’t get adequate use because of the cross bite and that eventually the gums will disintegrate(not sure if that’s the right discription) causing my teeth to fall out. Could this be possible or is he trying to scare me into having it done? Thank you.

I have a overbite could i have it done on the NHS?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, I had braces from age 16 to 18 to correct my overbite. I am now 23 and my teeth have spread and I have an overbite again, but I only need the 4 front teeth at the top and bottom teeth pushed together and back. I was wondering what the quickest and most cost effective way to sort this out would be. Also I am on a very low income, could I have this done on the NHS? Thank you.

I am based in hatfield and need a dentist to fix my overbite

Q.
Dear Doctor Caplan, I am a 21 year old female and had braces when I was younger, but my dentist took them off before my treatment was finished, this left my bottom teeth quite wonky and didn’t really fix my overbite. It is my overbite I am worried about. If I press my teeth together my lips do not touch, infact my bottom lip fits under my top teeth. I would like to have this corrected before it becomes any worse as it affect my confidence and I hate to smile! I would be greatful for some advice I am based in Hatfield so would like to look at options in the local areas. Thank you very much.

Could the problems with my bite be due to TMJ?

Saturday, April 4th, 2009
Q.
My question is what would cause my teeth to feel as if my bite has changed. I am 40+. I see my dentist for reqular yearly checkups. In January 09 I got a cleaning done, and at that time I told the hygienist that my right side teeth feel different as if they are longer or that my bite is off. She said sometimes tartar is like a sliver and makes things feel funny. Had bite wings and only showed a couple of watches, no cavities. Well a month later they were still feeling like my bite is off, I went back to the dentist and he said that I probably am grinding and need a night quard. So I booked an appointment for the night guard, and was seen by another dentist this time. I told him my teeth still feel like they are not feeling like they bite together properly, in fact I noticed that before I was able to bite off a broken finger nail and now I cannot because of the space. He said a night guard would not help and wasn’t at all sure what to do ?What would cause a shift like this or what could be happening? Could it be my TMJ?

I feel I have a slight over bite and my teeth are a bit crowded towards the lower front. However my concern is my front lower tooth.( I think its 24/central incisor)Its overlapping. What sort of treatment would you recommend since it is a minor concern being just one tooth.

in last recent years my teeth have moved and now don’t meet, i have no bite at all

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, at the age of fourteen my mouth was too crowded so i had 2 teeth taken out from the top and 2 from the bottom, it was needed at the time but in last recent years my teeth have moved and now don’t meet, i have no bite at all, i can sometimes be in agony, it always leads to root canal or nerve etc etc but the main problem is now my jaw line! My dentist is very good and gave me a mouth piece which has prevented the pain and somehow the pain isn’t as bad, plus i don’t grind my teeth as much but i felt i needed a second opinion, the second dentist told me that he could do nothing for me but that i would have to see a orthodontist but the only solution he had was that i would have to get my jaw broken? to me, this is a little severe? have you any advice or solution
