Monday, May 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi. im 16. i had braces about 2 years ago. i got them off and they gave me a permanant retainer, but it broke. so i went back to go get another permanant retainer and they gave me a clear one. it didnt fit. i went back for another one and it didnt work either. so i had already spent like 300$ on retainers so i gave up on trying. now my middle bottom tooth is overlapping the rest. what should i do? i dont want to really get braces again.

my 6 yr old daughter has a large overbite is there any option for her other than having surgery

Monday, May 11th, 2009
Q.
My 6 year old daughter has quite a large overbite and shows a lot of gum when she smiles. she has developed what is known as ‘shark teeth’. My dentist has expressed a concern as when she puts her teeth together you cannot she her bottom teeth. When I was 18 I had extensive surgery on my jaw – including breaking my bottom jaw tobring forward and having an incision made in my top gum to reduce the showing of gum. Obviously my daughter has inherited my awful teeth. Is there any other option for my daughter other then surgery – bearing in mind I had this treatment 12 years ago, has orthodontic treatment improved withou the need of as much surgery??

my dentist filled my back teeth how long it would take to settle the teeth into a position

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
I have posted this question on the forum but decided to try and email direct. One of my back teeth had some of the tooth break off, back and side, so my dentist filled it. Everything was ok but a few days later I felt like my front teeth were moving, kind of clicking together and with pressure on the front teeth, I rang him and went back, he filed in between a couple of the teeth to make some room and said it should be ok but after another couple of days they still felt like they were moving. went back again and he said because of the filling at the back I was getting used to a new bite, but he filed the filled tooth down some more and said that it would just take a while to get used to it and once the front teeth aligned themselves and they were in a position they would settle down and would not click together as much or wobble (they are a little), he said it also feels that they wooble a hell of a lot but in fact not even a hair but I think in my mind it is worse cos you can feel it. Was just wondering how long it would take to settle the teeth into a position, I know it takes time but can anyone say roughly how long!!! Thanx

i have a crossbite what treatment would you recommend?

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki The 3 upper teeth nearest my left central Inciser are pushed back and the bottom teeth below overlap them!. A few teeth below are also pushed more forward directly below. I think it’s what you call a crossbite. My lower jaw seems out of alignment and goes to the left slightly too, because of my bite. Otherwise my teeth are fine, healthy and white with no fillings. My NHS dentist doesn’t care and just laughed and said it adds character to me. I’m 33 now and my old dentist should have recommended braces when I was a child or maybe it has got worse over time. It’s really affecting my confidence and how I feel people view me. My personal and professional life is a non-starter with how I feel now. what treatment would you recommend?.

i would like to get my teeth straightened but i am unsure which aligner or braces is suitable

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I really don’t like going to the dentist and because of this i didn’t have braces as a teenager (i am now 20) as i was always too scared. My two front teeth are slightly crossed over and both lateral incisor and canine aren’t straight. I know this is due to over crowding as i was meant to have my second molars extracted but i was too scared. I would like to get them straightened as quickly and easily as possible but i am unsure which aligners or braces would be suitable. I would also like to know what options there are for making the whole process as relaxed as possible.

I have an overbite can i have my top set of teeth straightened without touching my bottom set

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Recently I’ve been given a quote on a price for braces upper and lower. I always knew that braces would help solve my top teeth as my front tooth slightly overlaps with the 2 teeth at each side (7mm). To my surprise I was told I have an over bite of 105% which requires braces to correct. Is this a necessary requirement or can I have my top set of teeth straightend without having to touch my bottom set? Or will this cause problems later in life?

I have a misaligned jaw and a crossbite what can i do about this?

Friday, April 24th, 2009
Q.
I have a misaligned jaw, and a crossbite. It’s hereditary! I had orthodontic braces when I was younger, which seemed to straighten it out a bit, but it’s still very across to one side. What can I do about this? Thanks.

i ve a overbite and i was said that my jaw would need breaking will the result be permanent

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I’m 33 yrs old and have had an overbite since my early teens. A recent enquiry with an nhs orthodontist indicated that a brace wouldn’t totally solve my problem and that my jaw would need breaking. My question is how much would I expect to pay, is it permanent and how good are the results as I would love to finally have a hollywood smile?
