on an old root canal treated tooth and that no NHS

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
Q.
I am informed that I need an apicoectomy on an old root canal treated tooth and that no NHS Dentist can perform it also the local Dentistry Hospital can not perform it. Questions: Is the treatment really going to cost £500? What is the cost or is it a lottery? Where can I find a private dentist who is able to offer this specialist treatment without telephoning every entry of yellow pages? Why is it that an NHS dentist can’t perform the treatment but a private one can afterall they all have the same training ?

can you recommend a good NHS dentist in ESSEX

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
Q.
Hello Dr my question is,i had a bridge done about 20yrs ago, within the past 6months the bridge partly broke away and just yesterday whilst bitting into a french stick the whole bridge come away,it was on the right hand side of my mouth(front tooth then another tooth then a gap where the bridge was then 2 teeth that where ground down where the bridge was fixed to)which i must say are very sensitive at the moment, now the thing is i have been to several NHS dentists who say they can do it on the NHS then only to turn round and say they cannot do it, but can do it privately, this is frustrating due to the fact that each time i have to pay for them to look only for them to turn round and say they will only do it private, how can i know that they can’t do it on the NHS and are not just trying to make money out of me, as you know it is not cheap to have this work done privately, and if i had plenty of money i would have it done, but could you recomend a NHS dentist in my area that is trustworthy and reliable, or what would your reccomendation be, thankyou for your time.  Halstead Essex.

I have gaps on each side of my front teeth

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
I am 17 years old and am contacting you for some advice. Ever since my baby teeth fell out and made way for my adult teeth i wos left with two gaps at the side of each of my front 2 teeth. I am exremely self conscious about them and they are really starting to lower my slef-esteem and make lose my confidence. I was wondering if there is any way to close these gaps and if in any way it is possible to have the procedure done on the nhs, as I or my family dont really have the funds to do it privately. I understand that my procedure is somehow seen as cosmetic and that may be a reason as to why I cant have it funded on the nhs. But to me a persons health is an holistic state and cannot just be seen as a physical thing. The appearence of my teeth are really beginning to affect me emotionally, and to me that is part of a persons health. I hope you can help me, or guide me in the right direction. Thankyou.

Can i get a nice set of dentures on the NHS

Monday, August 18th, 2008
Q.
Hi,I am a 49 yr old female. I have always had yellow teeth as long as I can remember, I have one single denture and quite severe gum recession hence a lot of lose teeth. It would be my dream to be put to sleep and wake up with a fantastic set of dentures. I hate my teeth and my smile but cost is an issue. Should anything be available to me on the NHS? Thank you.

do you know a veneers dentist in brighton

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Q.
Hello I had veneers fitted 13 years ago and they now need replacing. I was never very happy with the original veneers (I had them done for free on the NHS as I was a student at the time) – they felt very big for my mouth and kept falling off. Subsequent dentists have told me they were not done very well. I have moved house since so now have a different dentist. My question is should I go to a specialist cosmetic dentist (If so could you recommend one in Brighton as there don’t appear to be any recommended on the website in Brighton)or should I trust my normal dentist? Will there be a big difference in cost as my budget isn’t huge? Thank you! Melody
