do you know a veneers dentist in brighton

Q. Hello I had veneers fitted 13 years ago and they now need replacing. I was never very happy with the original veneers (I had them done for free on the NHS as I was a student at the time) – they felt very big for my mouth and kept falling off. Subsequent dentists have told me they were not done very well. I have moved house since so now have a different dentist. My question is should I go to a specialist cosmetic dentist (If so could you recommend one in Brighton as there don’t appear to be any recommended on the website in Brighton)or should I trust my normal dentist? Will there be a big difference in cost as my budget isn’t huge? Thank you! Melody

A. Thank you for your question Melody. There is another website that you can go to. It is the BACD website. Thsi is the british academy of cosmetic dentistry. You need to look on the full member list. This is a list of dentists that have carried a certain amount of training in the cosmetic and restorative areas of dentistry. Many dentists say that they can carry out veneers. Steer clear of any one that suggests Lumineers. Most dentists that know what they are doing won’t use them!
You will end up paying more if you go to a dentist with the proper training but these veneers are going to be in your mouth for a long time and the smile is such an important feature of the face. You want them to look natural. If you go and see a dentist for veneers ask to look at a portfolio of pictures. Many dentists will have them on their website. You need to look for veneers that look as if they belong in the peoples face. Veneers shouldn’t look as if they have been ‘stuck on’. Many cosmetic/restorative dentists have payment plans that can help you spread your cost. Good veneers cost between £700 and £1500 per tooth
Kind regards

I would most definitely recommend seeing a Cosmetic Dentist as apposed to a general dentist that has undergone no Cosmetic training as the difference in the end result would be substantial.
If your budget is quite low at the moment, I would recommend waiting until you can afford to get the work done by a Cosmetic Dentist as I have replaced many Veneers that patients have been unhappy with, therefore they have ended up paying twice.

I recommend that you research into different Cosmetic dentits and view their online portfolios. I have many patients that travel long diatances in order to achieve the best result possible. So maybe you may want to consider travelling to your chosen dentist.

It is very important when selecting a cosmetic dentist, you ask to look at his/her

1. portfolio of cases

2. postgraduate qualifications.

Please do not not actively look for cheap veneers , or you will get cheap quality looking veneers. Many private cosmetic practices now offer finance plans to spread the costs.
Unfortunately I do not know of any cosmetic dentist in Brighton.
