Can a smile makeover restore my partner’s confidence?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010
Q.
hi, my partner of 15 years suffers with very bad teeth. Basically the NHS Dentist says there is nothing they can do for him, as he has all treatments, bridge work, crowns blah blah…. I know his confidence suffers as he always talks with his mouth closed and never smiles!! It has effected him very badly as he is now on anti depressants. Please can you e-mail me some info and possible prices for a full smile makeover. He was thinking going to Hungary or Poland, as money is tight. I would prefer him to have work done in the UK. He so deserves to have a beautiful smile!!,

If I have one tooth fixed privately and one fixed through the NHS will they both look different?

Thursday, July 1st, 2010
Q.
Hi there. I have veneers on my front two top teeth one of which needs replacing because it is leaking but my dentist has said the other will probably have to be done at the same time too. If I have one done on the NHS and one done privately will the two teeth look different?,

What can be done for friend’s extremely loose and crooked teeth?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
Q.
I have a friend who has extremely loose, crooked teeth. So loose and crooked that it is now affecting her ability to eat properly. She was referred to a dentist who removed some of her teeth and has said she is not willing to remove any more teeth as there is nothing wrong with them – her gums being the answer. She also said it was not worth putting in a plate at a cost of around £189, as it would probably have to be done again, if her teeth were to move further.Should she seek a second opinion. She is being treated as an NHS patient. I would welcome your comments. Thank you. ,

Are they responsible for correcting my denture repair?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010
Q.
I recently broke my denture which replaces a front tooth I lost, I took it to my NHS Dentist who I appreciate gladly took a new imprint of my mouth and sent it off for repair under the free NHS Dental repair. However, when it returned and we tried it out it did not fit correctly and is noticably not in line with the surrounding teeth. She advised that nothing could be done as it had been repaired and the only option was for me to have a new denture made. At present I am unable to afford the £200 fee for a new denture and am therefore stuck with an ill fitting denture. I appreciate the repair service is free and am very appreciative of this but surely if the repair is not correct then they should be responsible for correcting the repair? Thanks.

I have a squint bite invisalign or other brace treatment fix this?

Friday, April 9th, 2010
Q.
I have a squint bite that means my chin goes off to one side when I close my teeth. This is also starting to cause me pain as when my jaws are shut some teeth push against each other further displacing each other. I have attended the dental hospital in Glasgow but I was told that I would need an operation to break my jaw then reset then possibly take bone from somewhere else to put into my jaw. As you can imagine this was all very scary stuff however it is a teaching hospital so I think they maybe looking at the most extreme course of action. Surely braces or invisalign treatment would be possible. I do not have much money so going private is probably not possible. Can you tell me what I could be covered for by the NHS and also where else I could seek treatment other than the dental hospital? Thanks,
