Is there any way possible of being able to get dental implants done on the NHS?

Friday, June 11th, 2010
Q.
Im 33 yrs old and was in a car accident several yrs ago and smashed a lot of my teeth, an now i have none and wearing dentures. I find them really uncomfortable, cannot eat with them in, and my confidence is at an all time low, i even suffer with depression through this, I also find i avoid talking to people because i am aware of how i look, is there any way possible of being able to get dental implants done on the NHS , or is there any other way of getting the funding for this, as i have no savings and im just a single mother with no current employment. Please help, as i feel i have stopped living my life like i should. Thankyou,

I have a narrow smile, what’s the cheapest option availble to fix this?

Monday, June 7th, 2010
Q.
I had crowded teeth when i was at school and had a 2 year brace to fix them. I went through a lot of pain but in the end it was worth it. Im now 37 and over the years my teeth have crossed over at the front again, although not as bad as when i was younger, and my teeth are very close together. I can just about fit dental floss between them! If i bit a piece of wood, i could make arrow heads. that is the shape of my bite. I cannot get a brace on the NHS which i think is unfair considering i have already had brace. I dont expect a ‘hollywood smile’ but i do want a wider smile where my teeth are not crossed over at the front. When i smile you can see my two front teeth crossed and the ones beside them are already turned inwards to follow the rest of the teeth. I have a narrow smile. What would you suggest? The cheapest easiest option please. Thank you,

Can I have the composite bonding material removed from my front teeth?

Monday, June 7th, 2010
Q.
About 5 years ago, an NHS dentist placed composite bonding material on my 2 front teeth. Before this, it had only been placed on the reverse of these teeth due to a small amount of thinning enamel. Because I was only 16, I didn’t really know what she was doing and did not have the courage to ask why it was being done. They looked so bad that I visited a private dentist who said he could redo them. Within a couple of months they looked just as bad; wearing away at the edges, turning yellow. I brush, floss and mouthwash everyday. Is it possible to just have the composite bonding material removed and go back to my natural teeth? I don’t really know why it was put on the front surface in the first place, as my teeth are straight and, before this, white. Thank you.,

I’ve lost my bridge and I don’t have a lot of money, what can I do to have it replaced?

Friday, June 4th, 2010
Q.
Hi I’m a 28yr old male suffering from gum disease. I have had treatment done from the NHS as I had rotten teeth, which eventually got sorted with a brace. However, I had a bridge fitted to replace my bottom 4 teeth, which again was under the NHS to to my financial circumstances. Recently, my bridge came loose and fell out and got lost. I’m now worried I will have to pay huge sums of money to have it replaced. I’m tight on finances as it is. Can you advise what’s best to do?,

I have had really bad toothache for the past 3 days, I rang the NHS Direct number yesterday and they said I am not entitled to NHS emergency dentist service, I am only entitled if it is root canal problem, but I am not sure myself what the problem is, just that the toothache is becoming unbearable! Please could you reply asap, many thanks for your time.,

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010
Q.
I was thinking of getting a smile makeover, and I was wondering, if the NHS cover any of the costs at all, also is there a payment plan, as my teeth would need a huge amount of work due to decayed teeth, any answers would help, many thanks.,

Why can’t have my dental veneers on the NHS like I did 11 years ago?

Friday, May 28th, 2010
Q.
Hello, 11 years I had 6 veneers fitted and half of the cost was paid by the National Health. My dentist at the time has since retired and his replacement says I have to pay full price. Is this reasonable, as I can’t afford to pay the full price and I will be left with awful looking teeth. Surely if I was granted National Health before, why not now? Can you tell me if there is anything I can do or who to contact for help,

Why can a private dentist give me the treatment but the NHS can’t?

Friday, May 28th, 2010
Q.
My dentist says he has gone as far as he can on the root canal treatment on one of my back teeth. He says there is are about three parts of the nerve left about 5mm long. He has said a private clinic could do it but it could not be done on the NHS. Why can a private dentist appear to be able to do it ? The alternative is to have it out.,
