Im 18 and my front teeth are few mm wide and there are longer than the others any advice?

Q. Hi there, Im an 18 year old student and ever since i was young i have always had a gap between my two front teeth. Over the years i think it has closed a little so i would say it was a few mm wide. Its always been an issue for me as i dont like to show my teeth on photos and when i am talking to someone and i know im going to laugh i try to cover my mouth so they don’t see my teeth! They are also a little longer than normal front teeth. I absolutely hate them and they are the only thing i hate about my teeth. Is there any treatments that would help to close this gap, or even veneers? Obviously because i am a uni student i dont have as much money as i would wish for at the moment so are there still options to go through the NHS? Many thanks, Regards,

A. I’m afraid you’ve passed the age where you can get orthodontic treatment on the NHS.
Orthodontic treatment woud be the best option to close your gap at the front. There are some appliances on the market at the moment that can work really quickly- such as the 6 month smile, invisalign etc. These are relatively discreet aswell.
Veneers can help create the illusion of teeth as they can sit over the top of your teeth and look pretty. The only concern that I have, is that if you have quite large teeth to start with, closing the gap with veneers may make them look too wide and big. To get perfect symmetry, you may need to consider having more than just the 2 front teeth prepared for veneers to create the perfect smile.
I hope tis has helped, and good luck with what you decide to do. Please just know that you don’t need to be embarassed about your smile.
