Uneven front teeth needs to be reshaped

Monday, November 23rd, 2009
Q.
I recently went to the dentist and she shaved down one of my teeth so now one of my 2 front teeth is smaller than the other. It isn’t noticeable unless I point it out , but my teeth look different and it is very upsetting. I have a gap between my 2 front teeth I want to have fixed , so my question is, if I get braces or Invisalign to close the gap, can it bring down the slighter shorter tooth so my teeth look the same length again? I would like to avoid having the tooth that was not touched shorterend to repair my dentists mistakes and I am going to start consulting with other dentists/orthodontists for advice. Help. Thank you in advance

Can you provide more insight on 6 months braces?

Friday, November 20th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr, I would be grateful if you would give me some advice. I am need t get braces to correct overcrowding on both the top and bottom teeth. I have had a consultation for 6 month braces. I am not sure whether to get them or to go for traditional braces. Have you had any dealings with 6 months braces? Would you recommend them?

Tongue thrust is causing my front teeth to separate

Thursday, November 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi There, I have a tongue thrust, and it is causing my two front teeth to separate in an upside down V. This is concerning to me because I wore braces for 4 years (about 7 years ago) and did speech therapy to re-train my tongue. I have a night guard that I wear although not regularly because it is uncomfortable, despite that it is in rest that the pushing occurs. Would veneers be a viable option to correct this cosmetically, while continuing to wear a guard at night?

Wisdom teeth is coming through and need a braces is it covered under NHS?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009
Q.
Hello there, Sorry to bother you but I have two quick questions if you could answer them please? I have previously had fixed braces (both) when I was younger, my bottom brace only stayed on for 4 weeks instead of 6 months as planned. I then had them both removed (after having top on for 1 1/5yrs prior to bottom) and wore the retainer 24 hrs a day for the year. I then went for the yearly check up point and my retainer was taken off of me. My teeth went wonky within months, and I have been too scared to go back. I get really upset about my teeth and suffered alot with braces to still have wonky teeth. I am 19 and in full time education and have swapped dentist now. My wisdom teeth have been coming through for a year and causing me grief, will they fit braces with the wisdom teeth growing through and are they likely to get funded by the NHS? Sorry its so long and hope its understandable for you to answer. Many thanks

After having Inman aligner dentist is telling me to have braces

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Butt, My question is about the Inman Aligner, I have had mine in since the end of August, the first three weeks were great I could really feel and see the difference in my front teeth. The last four weeks or so I have said to my dentist that I can’t see or feel any movement which is the main part of the treatment. My dentist is now telling me that I should get a Clearstep like brace to finish it off for a further cost. I thought the Inman was all that was needed to complete the treatment – what can I do??

Need a dental treatment to smile better from what I have now

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Solanki, I have a narrow tooth to the left of my front teeth and to the left of that tooth I have a fang tooth which I really hate the appearance and feeling of, it is positioned a bit higher than my other teeth and when my mouth is closed if you press along my mouth you can clearly feel a difference there, also when smiling it does not look good. I love to smile but past few years I smile alot less with my mouth open, it does affect me and in general most of my teeth need fixing eg; straightened, some reshaped to look even and whitened. I was wondering what could be done to help with my upper left fang tooth so it looks normal and also for all my teeth to be straight, even and white? I would prefer not to have braces. Hope you can make some sense of what I am asking for here and also any general pricing to give me an idea would be great. Many Thanks.

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Q.
My son just had braces placed yesterday and is having trouble finding things to eat because he can’t chew and it’s painful, therefore, he’s been going hungry. Can u offer any ideas for some foods he can try, especially at school, so he doesn’t starve himself to death??
