I am not sure as to what cosmetic procedure I should undertake

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
I was wondering if i could get some advice. I have two front teeth which have crowns and my jaw is very narrow. My bite is around 10mm compared to the average. Although my teeth are fairly straight I lose confidence when I smile as my front teeth are very apparant. I have been to my dentist and looked at othodontic treatment but am not keen on having a brace (I am 33 years old)and do not really have the time to do so as I may be working abroad in the future. I have also had a impression and new teeth placed onto the result to see what I would look like, however there is not much difference. I am really eager to have cosmetic work done but not sure what I can do. Please help as its getting me quite down. Many Thanks,

Q.
I am a 28 year old male who’s teeth appear quite good and straight. I have a history of gum disese in my family and althought I have all my teeth (ex wisdom teeth) I do have considerable bone losss, esp at the back. I regularly visit a periodontist for deep below the gumline cleaning. I would like to get my teeth veneered for that perfect smile. I have only 1 non-porcelin filling. Am I a candidate for this procedure?

there is not enough jawbone to do this proceedure without a sinus lift

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I am a male 54 years old and need 2 implants on top jaw but I have been told there is not enough jawbone to do this proceedure without a sinus lift . What are the percentage chances of a sinus lift being 100% successful? If there are liable to be complications what would they be and how severe would they be ?

Five year old implant is wobbly

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
I had some implants fitted about five years ago, but one of them is now wobbly and loose. My dentist says this may be due to bone loss and I may need to have it taken out. I thought implants were meant to last for about 15 years? and is there an alternative to having it removed?

Is any technique that can implant or grow bone into the gums so implants can be attached?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Good evening Dr.Bohara My question is concerning the lack of bone structure in a person jaw and whether their is any technique that can implant or grow bone into the gums so implants can be attached. My wife was born with a cleft palate 53 years ago and her case is quite complicated. I do not expect an easy answer to my question but would like to know if there was any hope new techniques could improve her circumstances. Her main problems has been the lack of bone in her jaw / gums which has meant that no implants could be used so new teeth could be fixed. She has to wear a plate which goes across the roof of her mouth and attaches to her good surviving teeth. She has always been terrified that if these teeth decline and the plate could not be fixed to anything she could lose the power of speech. Is there a way that bone could be grown or transported into the gums so implants can be used etc. I have heard that cryatal can be used to grow a base so bone can then be grafted onto and into the gums but have never had this confirmed. Could please inform me if there is a technique that is now possible which could improve my wifes condition I would be grateful. Regards,

Can my overbite and missing teeth be fixed?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I think i have an overbite, when i bite, my front teeth are further foward than my back teeth and it has made me paranoid for years, i feel my chin line is too far set back due to this and often practice pushing my jaw fowards but it obviously doesn’t feel natural and i forget easily, I did have a brace for about a month when i was younger, it worked by locking my jaw into place but i didnt get on with it, the dentist said he could break my jaw in half and fit a metal rod to push it foward but it scared me at that age! Also, when my dentist did the xray for the brace he relised that i had the teeth that are meant to be next to my front teeth missing (they wern’t in my gums to come down), therefore, my canines grew in the wrong place so are next to my front teeth and i hate them, i am left with a milk tooth where the canine shouldve pushed it out and on the other side, a gap where the milk tooth came out. my two front teeth have begun crssing over too now. i wondered what you would reccomend. Thankyou. Also, i have

Cannot open his mouth normally

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
Q.
I have a grandson who will be 3 in May. His mouth cannot open normally. When he was a baby we could hardly get the spoon with food on it in his mouth because he cannot open it. He is unable to eat like a hamburger or a lollipop. I am very concerned and feel like he needs some kind of corrective surgery. He was to have his tear ducts opened last week but they were afraid to do it because of intubating him and his mouth not opening. Now he has to see a specialist at Duke and I am wondering where do we start to follow through with this jaw problem? What is it called when a child cannot open his mouth because of some structual problem? He looks normal and definitely acts normal he just can’t open his mouth very wide at all. I don’t know where to start. thank-you
