Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Riten, I am 22 years old, I am not at all happy with my teeth. When I went to the hospital for advice, they said I have to have my jaw brought forward, that is something big. I was wondering if there is any way of straightening my teeth without the operation. I understand that it will not be effective as would have been if I was younger, but I’m very desperate now, please can you help me Dr Riten? Thank you Yours sincerely inthu

Not only do I suffer from typical tTMJ symptoms but I also have left flank pain, pressure under left rib, tingling in my left shoulder and along arm to fingers, pain just above my left knee at front, a feeling like a tight band around my upper left calf and pain in left achilles. In fact the whole of my left side feels tight. My right side is fine. Doctor says nothing wrong with me and all in my mind. I also have a tight throat and difficulty swallowing. Thanks

Q.
I have been to my local hospital for a re-placement night guard as I have TMJ. They have now told me they dont do them anymore. Basidon Essex Hospital!! Ive since had one made at a dentist but it is too soft and my GP said it is not doing the Job. I am stuck now as to who to get in-touch with as I need one urgent and that fits and does the job right for me, I am in quite a lot for pain and dont want my jaw getting locked again and ending up at hospital.

I was wondering if there any orthodontic surgery that widens the jaw?

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was wondering what a suitable age for placing veneers on teeth is, as I am 16 and my dentist has recommended this as a follow up from my braces, as my main problem is that I have quite a narrow jaw, which I personally really dislike. So my dentist is creating gaps between my teeth in order to fill them up with veneers, though I don’t see this having much effect. And as I have understood I am too old for a rapid palate expander, I was wondering if there was any orthodontic surgery that widens the jaw?

what else would help to change my lower half of my face other than surgery

Sunday, April 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i think i am generally considered average to good looking, i get my fair share of compliments, however… I have recently had a photoshoot done, just for fun, and although i knew that i had a cross bite (that has been corrected on the nhs with braces, expanders etc) i didn’t realise the obvious difference in length of either side of my lower jaw. i’m horrified. it makes my face look stupid. i could never work out why i always had a horrible smile, but i think i’ve just sussed it. to be honest i can’t see what else would help to change the lower half of my face other than surgery. is this expensive. please help
